Initiatives from practice

In mid-September, the atmosphere of enthusiastic work spread throughout the offices, rooms, and workshops of Factory X52. At the Engineering-Technology Department, Senior Lieutenant Tran Duc Bao, Technical Assistant, and the innovation team focused on completing the topic "Building an information technology system applying artificial intelligence (AI) to support research and searching for digital library documents on the internal network". This is the product that he and his teammates have been working hard on for many months. According to Senior Lieutenant Tran Duc Bao, the Factory regularly repairs many complex, modern systems on ships, while simultaneously operating and maintaining newly installed equipment. That requires the technical staff to quickly and accurately access a large amount of diverse technical information, from repair documents, structural diagrams, operating instructions to maintenance procedures. Meanwhile, manually searching from scattered document sources is both time-consuming and labor-intensive, and prone to errors, affecting work efficiency and quality. Online solutions are abundant but cannot be applied at the Factory due to information security requirements.

To solve the problem, the innovation team developed an intelligent technical support tool that automates the search process, provides accurate information, and supports decision making. This AI application not only improves the efficiency of technical work, reduces the time spent searching for documents, and optimizes productivity, but also contributes to the digital transformation mission of the Factory.

Identifying the key role of science and technology, the Resolution of the Party Congress of Factory X52 for the 2025-2030 term sets the goal of promoting scientific research, promoting science and technology to improve the quality and efficiency of technical work, focusing on ship and boat repair. To concretize this policy, the emulation movement to promote science and technology has become a prominent highlight. From the beginning of 2025 up to now, the factory-level science and technology competition has had 29 products and 6 excellent initiatives winning prizes. These products are not only highly applicable but also effectively solve difficult problems of replacement materials and equipment.

Many initiatives of young officers and engineers won high prizes at the "Creative Youth in the Army" Award. A typical initiative is that of Captain Luu Tran An, engineer of the Engineering and Technology Department, which was displayed at the 14th Congress of the Navy Party Committee, term 2025-2030, and won third prize in the "Creative Youth in the Army" Award in 2024. In the period 2021-2025, the Factory has 132 topics and initiatives recognized and effectively applied at all levels, including 6 industry-level topics, 5 "Creative Youth in the Army" awards and 31 Nguyen Phan Vinh awards of the Navy.

Strengthening the technology platform

Along with promoting the movement to promote SK and CTKT, Factory X52 constantly strengthens its organization and improves its scientific and technological capacity. In the period of 2020-2025, the Factory proactively cooperates in scientific research with units inside and outside the Army, mastering the technology to repair many types of weapons and modern technical equipment, and at the same time producing and ensuring many essential technical supplies. Colonel Tran Quy Dan, Director of the Weapons and Electronics Workshop, affirmed: "The root of research efficiency comes from the trust and clear assignment of tasks by the commander. When the responsibility and dedication of cadres, engineers and technical staff are aroused, creative ideas will be quickly realized, contributing to improving the technological level of the Factory".

In addition, the Factory cooperated with partners to successfully build software for operating and managing technical work, meeting the criteria of a pilot unit on "Application of information technology in operating technical work" of the Army Service. The software is currently operating effectively, contributing to digitizing processes and improving the quality of command and operation.

Factory X52 also focuses on environmental protection and ensuring labor safety through the application of digital technology. Ventilation and air conditioning systems in the workshop, sandblasting house and production area are periodically maintained; wastewater and toxic waste treatment systems operate regularly and properly, and are highly appreciated by inspection teams from the Ministry of National Defense and the Navy.

Talking to us, Colonel Pham Ba Bang, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Factory X52, emphasized: “Scientific research and development, technical and technological development are key political tasks. This is both a driving force to successfully complete the task of repairing weapons and technical equipment, and a foundation to help the Factory master technology and develop sustainably. The Party Committee and Board of Directors always create conditions and have appropriate incentive mechanisms to nurture the creative spirit of each cadre and employee.”
