Below is an example of the Literature subject for the 2025 high school graduation exam:

2025 is the first year that the high school graduation exam is organized according to the new general education program. Candidates will only take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Mathematics) and 2 elective subjects (among the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 including: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology).

The Literature subject will still be tested in essay format with a time limit of 120 minutes. The test consists of 2 parts: Reading (4 points) and Writing (6 points). The remaining subjects will be tested in multiple choice format, in which the Math test will have a time limit of 90 minutes, the remaining subjects will have a time limit of 50 minutes.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training , the sample exam ensures compliance with the regulations on the structure and format of the high school graduation exam from 2025 announced by the Ministry, and closely follows the 2018 general education program, mainly grade 12. To ensure objectivity, comprehensiveness, and closeness to the program and teaching process in schools, the Ministry has invited many experts, scientists, lecturers, teachers, authors of new textbooks... to participate in developing the exam.
