Check out 5 promising players of U23 Vietnam before the Asian qualifiers

At the 32nd SEA Games, the U23 Vietnam team under the leadership of coach Philippe Troussier were mostly new faces to the fans. After a few months, many of them gradually showed their personal mark in the club's shirt in the V-League, the First Division. In addition, faces that were rarely given opportunities at the club were also known to the fans through the journey to win the U23 Southeast Asian Championship.

The Vietnam U23 team preparing for the upcoming U23 Asia qualifiers has many players showing promising potential.

Nguyen Thai Son

The past six months have been a huge leap in Nguyen Thai Son’s career. He made his mark in the U23 Vietnam team at the 32nd SEA Games, making an impressive debut for the national team. This midfielder is an energetic player, tirelessly moving, ready to be present at every hot spot and showing a thirst for victory.

Thai Son has a regular place in the V-League for Thanh Hoa Club. The captain's armband in the last match of the season shows that coach Velizar Popov has great faith in the young talent born in 2003. Right before the holiday, this midfielder was honored as the best young player of the 2023 V-League season.

Vo Minh Trong

The defender of Dong Thap Club is also one of the factors that showed potential at SEA Games 32. He meets well the requirements of Coach Philippe Troussier to attack and defend in the left full-back position. Minh Trong's moves to penetrate the space behind the opponent's defense can be an effective attack option for U23 Vietnam in the upcoming U23 Asia qualifiers.

In the current U23 Vietnam team, the only player who can compete equally with Minh Trong is Phan Tuan Tai. However, coach Troussier prefers to use the Viettel player in the center-back position to take advantage of his ability to pass the ball and develop from the back line.

Vo Minh Trong is coach Troussier's number 1 priority in the left-back position.

Nguyen Thanh Nhan

The PVF-CAND striker did not perform at his best at SEA Games 32. However, Thanh Nhan performed well when returning to the club to play in the First Division. He just won the tournament's top scorer title for the second consecutive time (with 10 goals). This will be a source of motivation for Thanh Nhan to try harder and be more confident in the U23 Vietnam jersey.

Thanh Nhan’s forte is the ability to dribble and choose a position, attacking open spaces. The PVF-CAND striker is dangerous when playing the role of the last point to receive the ball after the home team has deployed, pulling the opponent to the opposite wing.

Nguyen Thanh Nhan is the top scorer of the National First Division for two consecutive years.

Vo Nguyen Hoang

The striker born in 2002 emerged very early thanks to his outstanding physique (1m82 tall) and modern football thinking. At the age of 17, Nguyen Hoang was called up by coach Park Hang Seo to the preliminary squad to prepare for the 30th SEA Games. He is also a familiar name in the U15, U16, U18, and U19 Vietnam teams.

Nguyen Hoang was supposed to be on the list for the 32nd SEA Games, but injury has robbed him of his chance. The 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers will be a springboard for Nguyen Hoang to prove his ability to coach Troussier, thereby opening the door for him to wear the national team jersey in the near future.

The return of Vo Nguyen Hoang will help coach Troussier have more options for the center forward position. At SEA Games 32, the French coach only has Nguyen Van Tung but the Hanoi FC player is not in the best physical condition.

Vo Nguyen Hoang became famous very early and promises to be a prominent factor in the U23 Vietnam attack.

Andrej Nguyen An Khanh

The Vietnamese-Czech player was called up for the training camp in June, but fans have not had the chance to witness his talent firsthand. In fact, An Khanh performed well in his "trial" a few months ago. Coach Troussier's second call-up of the player to the Vietnam U23 team proves that.

An Khanh’s forte is the central midfielder and attacking midfielder positions. The player born in 2005 has just been included in the reserve list of the Czech U19 team by the Czech Football Federation. That suggests that An Khanh has potential. However, he needs to show it more in the U23 Vietnam shirt.
