The highest floor score for Medicine and Pharmacy is 22.5

11 majors in the health group must have a minimum floor score of 19-22.5, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Education and Training on the afternoon of July 21.

The major with the highest minimum score is Medicine and Dentistry with 22.5 points. This level is 0.5 points higher than the minimum score of the past two years, including the total score of three high school graduation exam subjects according to the admission combination, plus priority points and without multiplying the coefficient.

The two majors of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy have a slightly lower minimum score of 21. Other majors in the health sector have an input quality assurance threshold of 19 points, including Nursing, Preventive Medicine, Midwifery, Dental Prosthetics, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology and Rehabilitation Technology. These levels are the same as the past two years.

Universities that enroll health majors are not allowed to set cut-off scores lower than the above levels.

The regulation of a common floor score for health care majors with practice certificates has been implemented by the Ministry of Education and Training over the past 5 years to improve input quality.

Since this regulation was introduced, the admission scores for medical schools have been narrowed. In particular, the admission scores for health training majors in private schools have increased significantly compared to the previous period.

For example, at Hanoi University of Business and Technology, the benchmark score for the Medical major in 2018, when there was no general regulation from the Ministry, was 18. In 2019, for the first time, the Ministry introduced a common floor score for the health major, and this school raised the benchmark score to 21.

For top schools like Hanoi Medical University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the minimum threshold for some majors like Medicine or Dentistry is not too meaningful because the admission score is always much higher. For example, last year Hanoi Medical University took 28.15 points for Medicine, 6.15 points higher than the minimum threshold.

Based on the floor scores announced by schools and the benchmark scores of schools last year as well as some forecasts for this year, candidates continue to register, adjust and add their wishes until 5:00 p.m. on July 30.

Universities will announce admission scores before 5:00 p.m. on August 22.
