According to GD&TĐ, in addition to houses, vehicles, and business establishments having their roofs blown off or collapsed, the school system in Thanh Hoa province was also affected and suffered great damage.
According to preliminary statistics, as of 9am on September 30, Thanh Hoa province had 105 educational establishments affected by storm Bualoi. Many schools had their roofs blown off, their yards flooded, their teaching equipment and boarding facilities damaged, with total estimated damage of over 6.9 billion VND.

At 3 schools in Hoang Phu commune (including Hoang Quy Kindergarten; Hoang Quy Primary School; Hoang Quy Secondary School), many classrooms had their roofs blown off, tables and chairs damaged, railings, walls, trees broken, teaching equipment severely damaged, seriously affecting the facilities serving teaching and learning.
In Tien Trang commune, a coastal area, high tides combined with prolonged heavy rains caused localized flooding in many areas. Although there had been proactive responses in advance, due to the rapid rise of floodwaters, some units had never recorded a precedent of flooding as deep as this storm, so out of a total of 12 schools in the area, up to 6 schools were affected.
Most of the schools had their teaching equipment and boarding facilities damaged by floodwaters; many important documents and files were also submerged in water.

At Quang Nham Kindergarten, 4 desktop computers, 2 laptops, 1 portable speaker, 4 water pumps and boarding equipment were severely damaged by flooding.
The first floor of areas A and B with 6 classrooms was deeply flooded, damaging 6 TVs and various learning materials; decorations in the classrooms were severely damaged, boarding equipment (dish dryer, gas rice cooker, refrigerator, etc.)

Hoang Phuong Secondary School (Hoang Giang Commune), the entire corrugated iron roof of the classrooms was blown away; the door system of the classrooms and the principal's office was blown away, the glass door was broken, documents were flying and wet; the school gate collapsed, the school's fence system collapsed...
The same situation also occurs in many other schools in the area, deep flooding, damaged teaching equipment and supplies...

Immediately after the storm, the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training requested localities and educational institutions to proactively deploy remedial plans, clean up the environment, promptly inspect and repair damaged items, and ensure safety before welcoming students back to school.

In many localities, authorities, parents and teachers have joined hands to clean up and repair damage, helping schools soon stabilize teaching and learning activities.
Thanh Hoa Education Department is continuing to review and count the detailed damage level at each unit, and at the same time propose support plans, especially for heavily affected schools, to soon restore learning conditions for students.
On September 29 and 30, the Thanh Hoa Department of Education directed educational institutions to allow students to take a day off. From October 1, based on the situation of post-storm flooding, schools will proactively report to the People's Committees of communes, wards and the Department of Education and Training to decide if necessary to allow students to take a day off. Teaching and learning will only be restored when absolutely safe conditions are ensured, while simultaneously cleaning and sanitizing classrooms and preventing epidemics after the storm.
