With network operators stopping serving phones that only use 2G waves (2G Only), the question of whether Vertu 2G phones can still be used is of interest to many customers, especially Vertu fans and owners.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ngan, CEO of Vertu Vietnam, from the beginning of 2024, the situation of customers using Vertu 2G phones experiencing weak or unstable signals depending on the area... will occur more and more frequently as Vietnam is moving towards completely shutting down 2G signals nationwide.
In addition, to control the products floating on the market, Vertu also took strong measures to permanently lock many devices of unknown origin, not genuine distributed products. Therefore, customers using old Vertu models in Vietnam were also affected.
At 2 Vertu stores in Vietnam, from the end of 2023 until now, many customers using Vertu 2G have come to ask for support. Most of them have two situations, one is due to weak phone signal, affecting communication and work; the other is the phone is locked.

Faced with this, some customers have upgraded to the Signature V 4G line because they are familiar with and love the beauty of push-button phones, or have chosen to switch to Vertu smartphones to experience modern technology. With many customers having problems with 2G signal being turned off or having their phones locked due to purchasing products of unknown origin, Vertu Vietnam currently has a support policy so that customers can switch to using genuine - authentic products.
Mr. Ngan emphasized that in these cases, Vertu Vietnam will also apply an exclusive policy for member customers so that customers can not only feel secure when purchasing genuine products, receive Vertu warranty and enjoy all exclusive services, but also receive additional benefits from Vertu Vietnam.
Currently, on some websites and forums, there is also information that it is possible to upgrade Vertu from 2G to 4G with prices ranging from several million to several tens of millions of VND. However, according to the representative of Vertu Vietnam, Vertu 2G and Vertu 4G phones use completely different operating systems, different motherboards, and cannot be replaced or upgraded, so the above information is just "background".
For that reason, Vertu 2G phones now only serve the function of decoration and souvenir and cannot be used normally. According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Cuong, Director of Vertu products, Vertu Vietnam, all phone lines distributed and retailed by Vertu Vietnam currently use 4G waves, only the Signature line is easily confused because of the completely similar appearance (Signature V uses 4G and Signature S 2G). Therefore, to use the phone normally, customers can buy and change to use the 4G line.
