The film Father's Gift tells the story of the lives of three brothers Nghia (Tuan Tu), Thao (Ngoc Huyen) and Hieu (Duy Khanh). In the film, in addition to the male lead Mr. Nhan (Meritorious Artist Vo Hoai Nam) and his three children, the audience also pays special attention to Thao's role as the slippery landlady.
As a country girl who came to the city to study, Thao had to rent a room with her friend. The landlord always spoke of her love and considered herself generous, but in reality, she was very strict about money. When there was any problem related to money, the landlady always played the good person, bringing up the "difficult old husband" to force the students to pay on time. If Thao was late in paying, she would have to pay interest of up to 11%.
Truc Quynh's performance in "Dad's Gift" was well received by many audiences.
With her slippery personality and witty lines, even though it was just a supporting role, the character of the female landlord still left a special impression on the audience.
The actress who plays this role is Truc Quynh. She was born in 1983, from Ha Nam , and graduated from the Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema. Truc Quynh is currently an actress at the Hanoi Opera House. She received a Silver Medal at the 2018 National Opera House Festival.
On television, the actress is known for her supporting roles with unique personalities. Truc Quynh became “familiar” with the roles of shrews, jealous women, and debt collectors.

The witty actress shared: “My roles are usually just supporting roles, appearing in just a few scenes. I don’t remember since when, but every time there is a need for a role as a jealous wife or debt collector, people always remember me. There was a year when I played a jealous wife 4 or 5 times.
This year, I will not rush to collect debts or fight with mistresses, but will play the role of a slippery, deceitful landlady in 'Dad's Gift'. In addition, I am also playing the role of a gossipy neighbor in the sitcom series 'Chuyen vong ta' on Hanoi channel.
Truc Quynh has participated in many TV series: "Marriage in a narrow alley", "Living with mother-in-law", "Finding flowers again", "Loving the sunny day", "Happy garage", "Life is still beautiful"...
Truc Quynh said that although she specializes in playing supporting roles, the characters have similar personalities, but she invests in acting and costumes to "bring out" the essence of each role. "For me, even though it's a fight for jealousy, each time it has to be different. When I fight for jealousy as the chairman's wife, it has to be different than when I fight for jealousy as the wife of a pawnbroker!"
Even the roles of the sly and slippery ones, I also change them so that the slippery character of the landlady will be different from the gossipy and nosy character of the usual neighbor. As a well-trained actress, I don't want my roles to be vague or similar, even if it's just a few scenes.
Truc Quynh is a cai luong actress in real life.
Sharing about the role of the landlord in Father's Gift , Truc Quynh said she did not expect to be so loved by the audience: "When I first accepted the role, I felt happy because this was a film shown on VTV3, so many people would watch. While acting, I found the script humorous and interesting. In addition, because this is a role that 'talks continuously', is slippery and flattering, so while acting, we added to the dialogue and the script, so it was also very fun to act.
Honestly, when I watched the movie again, I also found this landlady really crazy! But I only thought my acting was okay, I didn't expect the audience to like it so much. After the movie aired, my relatives and friends kept asking me 'Do you still have a house for rent?', 'You acted like that, you look exactly like the landlady in this place and that place.'... I felt very happy, because that meant everyone recognized that I had portrayed the character correctly."

Truc Quynh also revealed that it was the professional and comfortable working style of Meritorious Artist Vo Hoai Nam that helped her have more spirit to complete her role best: "Mr. Vo Hoai Nam, needless to say, is very calm and comfortable. In the scene where Mr. Nhan visits his daughter's room and is asked for money by the landlord, while waiting for the scene to be prepared, Mr. Nam and I practiced our lines together.
His gentle, easygoing personality is very suitable for roles like Mr. Nhan. When in a film crew, if you feel comfortable mentally, you can play the role easily, without any pressure, just like that and sublimate."
