Near the full moon day of the 7th lunar month, according to the reporter of Cong Thuong Newspaper, at some traditional markets and supermarkets, vegetarian food products have been displayed for sale, attracting consumers, leading to a much higher purchasing power than usual. The atmosphere in the vegetarian food market has become bustling, with buyers and sellers bustling about.

The food market on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month is abundant, with stable prices. In particular, vegetarian food, vegetables, and fruits have slightly higher prices than usual.

A survey at some traditional markets such as Hang Be market, Hom market, Mo market, Dong Xa market, Nghia Tan market... shows that many types of fruit have increased by 5,000 - 10,000 VND/kg.

The price of fresh flowers has increased rapidly but purchasing power has not decreased. Specifically, the price of roses has increased from 5,000 - 7,000 VND/flower, lilies from 15,000 - 25,000 VND/flower, chrysanthemums from 5,000 - 6,000 VND/flower, gladiolus from 12,000 - 16,000 VND/flower...

Pork prices are currently at 130,000 - 150,000 VND/kg depending on the type. Beef prices are at 220,000 - 280,000 VND/kg; roosters are at 130,000 - 140,000 VND/kg, hens are lower at about 100,000 - 110,000 VND/kg...

On this occasion, fresh seafood products also increased in price compared to normal days. Tiger prawns from 250,000 - 400,000 VND/kg, squid from 150,000 - 250,000 VND/kg, octopus from 150,000 - 160,000 VND/kg, sturgeon 330,000 VND/kg;

Not only are fruits and fresh foods increasing in price, the prices of vegetables are also at a high level.

Cabbage 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg, broccoli 18,000 - 20,000 VND/piece, carrots 12,000 VND/kg, bok choy from 14,000 - 16,000 VND/kg, cucumber 18,000 VND/kg, tomatoes from 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg, water spinach 13,000 VND/bunch, Malabar spinach 9,000 VND/bunch...

The reason for the high price of green vegetables is not only due to the impact of the full moon day but also due to objective reasons such as heavy rain in recent days causing a sharp decrease in vegetable supply.

Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy (Cau Giay, Hanoi ) said: " I take advantage of going to the market and offering early full moon offerings. Waiting until the main festival to go shopping will be more crowded, making it difficult to choose the items I want. But currently, the prices of all kinds of offerings have shown signs of increasing compared to yesterday ."

Besides, the vegetarian food market for the 15th day of the 7th lunar month on the internet has become bustling, vegetarian food traders are making a lot of money.

People can easily shop online from buying food to prepare themselves to full trays of food, with a variety of vegetarian dishes at prices suitable for each need.

Grasping that need, many shops, hotels, and online addresses have been placing orders for customers very early.

Ms. Ngo Thu Trang (Dong Da, Hanoi), who sells vegetarian food online, said that currently the prices of vegetarian trays are quite diverse. Prices range from 199,000 - 600,000/tray. In addition, there are trays with higher prices depending on the number of dishes and ingredients according to the customer's request, which can be up to more than a million VND per tray.

Nowadays, customers prefer to choose dishes that use natural ingredients from lotus, mushrooms, vegetables... rather than industrial vegetarian foods.

Vegetarian products are sold in a wide variety with hundreds of varieties from dried foods, frozen products, canned foods to spices and dipping sauces.

Vegetarian seasoning costs 4,000 - 6,000 VND/package, vegetarian ribs 80,000 VND/kg, dried mushrooms 130,000 - 160,000 VND/kg. Prices of vegetarian foods such as beef, sliced chicken, sausages, roasted suckling pig... have all increased from 10,000 - 20,000 VND/box.

These days, consumers only need to type the phrase "vegetarian food" on social networking sites and it is not difficult to see images of vegetarian sausages, vegetarian ham, vegetarian tofu, fake vegetarian chicken or pork... All are offered at many different price segments to meet the tastes of all customers.

According to research, the high price of food has led to an increase in the price of vegetarian products. However, the current purchasing power has not shown any signs of decreasing, many stores have had to import more products to serve the needs of the people.

It can be seen that the demand for food on the full moon days of the 7th lunar month increases. Most families will take advantage of this time to organize meals, eat together to create an opportunity to connect members and show respect to ancestors.

However, many foods have unknown origins, products with unpublished quality, or even do not ensure food hygiene and safety... consumers need to be careful with frozen foods of unknown origin to avoid consequences.

There are also many vegetarian foods on the market being sold as imported from the US, Japan, Korea... with prices three to four times higher than domestically produced products.

However, what is worrying is that many of these products do not have a brand or information about product ingredients, instructions for use, manufacturing date and expiry date...

The appearance of many vegetarian products on the market with unknown origins and quality makes consumers worry about food safety.

Discussing this issue, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Thinh, Institute of Biotechnology and Food Technology, recommended that when choosing vegetarian, dried or instant foods, consumers should choose reputable brands with food safety and hygiene certificates and clear origins.

Avoid buying moldy foods, bleached foods or processed products with bright colors to avoid health consequences.

Faced with the diversity of the vegetarian food market, consumers need to understand correctly and sufficiently in choosing to buy safe, quality vegetarian food for themselves and their families.
