Working scene.
According to the assessment, localities have increased propaganda and gradually digitized fishing vessel records. However, the work to combat IUU fishing still has many limitations: The rate of undigitized records is high, violations are not handled promptly, the situation of buying and selling vessels without declaration is still continuing, and the submission of fishing logs and production statistics at private fishing ports is not serious.
The members of the working group requested localities and units to be more drastic in handling cases of vessels with expired registrations, licenses and prolonged VMS disconnection; at the same time, promote digitalization and update records to improve management efficiency, contributing to the goal of removing the "yellow card" for Vietnamese seafood.
During the inspection at Ganh Hao fishing port, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su visited the lives of fishermen and boat owners, and propagated and encouraged people to strictly comply with legal regulations. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the importance of digitizing records, recording fishing logs, maintaining VMS equipment and fully complying with regulations on fishing vessel management and aquatic product exploitation to protect the reputation and economic interests of the locality and the whole country.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee against IUU fishing Le Van Su spoke at the meeting.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su requested localities and units to urgently review all fishing vessels with expired registration, licenses, lost VMS connection or sold but not yet transferred; resolutely make records, strictly handle, not let the situation drag on.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Provincial Police and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate closely in inspection, control, and handling of violations, ensuring consistency and timeliness. The Department of Agriculture and Environment provides specific instructions to localities, especially Ganh Hao commune, to fully and accurately report production; at the same time, promote the deployment of software for managing fishing vessels, electronic fishing logs, and interconnecting data. Localities must strengthen propaganda and instruct fishermen to strictly comply with regulations on exploitation, recording and submitting fishing logs, and controlling fishing vessels entering and leaving ports.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that localities and units must thoroughly handle existing problems and immediately overcome limitations within the next 10 days; at the same time, mobilize the drastic participation of the entire political system, in order to achieve the goal of removing the "yellow card" for Vietnamese seafood and developing sustainable fisheries.
