Delegation of Thanh Hoa province offered incense at Quang Tri Citadel and the Monument to the heroic Mai Quoc Ca Platoon.

The delegation of Thanh Hoa province observed a minute of silence, expressing their infinite gratitude for the great sacrifices of the heroic martyrs.

The delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee led by Comrade Dau Thanh Tung, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, offered flowers and incense at the special national relic of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel.

Continuing the gratitude activities towards the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025) and preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year of At Ty, on the morning of January 4, the delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee led by Comrade Dau Thanh Tung, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, came to offer flowers and incense to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at the special national relic of Quang Tri Citadel, Mai Quoc Ca Platoon Memorial and Vinh Linh Martyrs Cemetery, Quang Tri province.

Coming to lay wreaths and offer incense at the memorial of the special national relic of Quang Tri Citadel, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the delegation of Thanh Hoa province expressed their infinite gratitude to the heroic martyrs who bravely fought and sacrificed in the 81-day and night campaign to protect Quang Tri town and Quang Tri Citadel.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dau Thanh Tung adjusted the wreath to pay tribute to heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives at Quang Tri Citadel.

During that fierce battle, Quang Tri Citadel and Quang Tri town had to endure a large amount of bombs and bullets, equivalent to the destructive power of 7 atomic bombs that the US dropped on Japan in 1945. The land of the Citadel and the water of Thach Han River were soaked with the blood and bones of heroic martyrs so that Quang Tri Citadel could be successfully protected, creating momentum for victory at the Paris Agreement negotiation table.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs offered incense at the Monument to heroic martyrs in Quang Tri Citadel.

Quang Tri Citadel with the fiery summer of 1972 has become a sacred symbol of the immortal spirit of protecting national independence. It is also a testament to the fierceness of war and the desire for peace.

At the Mai Quoc Ca Heroic Platoon Memorial, the delegation offered flowers, incense, and took a minute of silence to express deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who fought bravely for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the People and sacrificed, forever remaining on the Thach Han River.

On the night of April 9 to 10, 1972, the 2nd Infantry Platoon (Mai Quoc Ca Platoon) of Company 11, Battalion 3, Regiment 9, Division 304, consisting of 20 soldiers, more than half of whom were from Thanh Hoa, commanded by Platoon Leader Mai Quoc Ca (from Ha Trung district), received the mission to enter the enemy-occupied area, destroy Quang Tri bridge (today's Thach Han bridge), in order to cut off enemy support from Quang Tri town to Dong Ha.

Delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa province offered flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic Mai Quoc Ca Platoon.

Receiving the suicide mission, the entire platoon quickly overcame many enemy ambushes and approached the target. At 4 a.m. on April 10, when approaching Quang Tri bridge to prepare to carry out the mission, they were ambushed by the enemy with a large number of elite troops supported by modern vehicles and weapons.

Mai Quoc Ca Platoon fought bravely and independently, repelling enemy attacks. 125 enemies and many military vehicles were destroyed. However, due to the huge difference in strength, 19 of our comrades heroically sacrificed themselves.

The country was unified, the State built a memorial monument on the bank of Thach Han River with 20 red hearts carved on it, an immortal symbol of the brave fighting spirit of the heroic Mai Quoc Ca Platoon, so that generations of today and tomorrow will forever be proud and follow.

At Vinh Linh Martyrs' Cemetery (Quang Tri), Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dau Thanh Tung and members of the delegation offered incense to each grave of martyrs from Thanh Hoa.

Also during the working trip, the delegation of Thanh Hoa province visited and offered incense and flowers at Vinh Linh Martyrs Cemetery. This is the resting place of 5,631 martyrs who died in the resistance war against the US, including 373 martyrs from Thanh Hoa.

With infinite gratitude, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dau Thanh Tung and members of the delegation burned incense on each grave of martyrs from Thanh Hoa.
