Delegation of Tuyen Quang province continues to participate in activities of the International Conference on Geoparks in Chile

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Ngoc Ha presented gifts and visited the booth of Mudeungshan Geopark partner (Korea)

On September 9, he attended the opening session of the Global Geoparks Fair, welcoming representatives of the Global Geoparks Network Executive Board to visit the booth of the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark.

Also on the same day, the delegation had bilateral discussions with the Geopark partners who have signed cooperation agreements with the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark. Specifically, the UNESCO Global Geopark Mine Aykoshidai (Japan), Mudeungshan Geopark (Korea). They all highly appreciated the cooperation activities that the two sides have organized in the period 2024 - 2025 such as: online community education connection activities between students of the two regions, mutual tourism promotion activities, scientific research activities...

In particular, the UNESCO Mine Akiyoshidai Global Geopark organized an international lantern festival, including lantern booths from Vietnam and Dong Van Stone Plateau, Mudeungshan organized a Geopark Marathon with 01 booth of the UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Stone Plateau, Dong Van organized an international partner corner at the tourist information stations...

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Ngoc Ha said: Ha Giang province in the past and now Tuyen Quang province highly values international cooperation in the fields of culture, scientific research and especially promoting cooperation in tourism development with Northeast Asian countries, and highly appreciates the results achieved between the Geoparks, considering this as the basis for expanding cooperation between local authorities.

At the working session with 02 European Geoparks, UNESCO Haute Provence Global Geopark (France) and UNESCO Lesvos Global Geopark (Greece), the other side proposed that the UNESCO Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark organize a visit and implement the cooperation signing plan agreed upon in early 2026.

On September 10, the delegation continued to participate in the voting activities to elect the Executive Board, Advisory Board and leadership positions of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network. As a result, Mr. Andre Artus Sa was elected President of the Global Geopark Network for the term 2025-2027.

In the following days, the delegation will participate in field activities at the UNESCO Kutralkura Global Geopark, share experiences in implementing conservation and tourism development work, and attend a number of scientific presentations held in parallel.
