Unique Chai Market session using plastic waste instead of money in Duong Minh Chau commune

On the morning of August 3, at Duong Minh Chau park, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Commune Youth Union and the Duong Minh Chau Commune Public Service Center coordinated to organize a Chai Market session, with many unique food stalls.

Children exchange plastic bottles for gift vouchers

Accordingly, the Organizing Committee mobilized benefactors to support 40 food stalls (banh bo, banh u, banh chuoi, sponge cake, milk tea, fried sweet potatoes, etc.), and buyers by using plastic waste instead of money, with the aim of raising awareness among people and students in joining hands to protect the environment, saying no to plastic waste.

More than 300kg of plastic waste was collected

After one event, the Organizing Committee collected 300kg of plastic bottles, nearly 6,000 aluminum cans, and issued 8,400 gift certificates. The collected scrap will be sold to raise funds for scholarships for disadvantaged students in the commune.

People use coupons to buy food at food stalls.

Diverse dishes to serve the people

The program is organized to promote the movement of the whole people joining hands to protect the environment, build civilized urban areas to the people, especially teenagers and children. Thereby, building awareness of waste classification at source, reducing plastic waste, preventing climate change; spreading good actions, green living messages to every household and every person in the whole commune. At the same time, the program creates a useful and healthy playground for teenagers and children on weekends./.
