EURO 2024 ended with an extraordinary achievement by Spain, the team won the European football championship for the 4th time in history with 7 wins.
It is not surprising that Spain also won the most important individual awards from the European Football Federation (UEFA).
The UEFA technical co-ordination team awarded Rodri the Best Player award, while the Best Young Player award for EURO 2024 went to Lamine Yamal. Dani Olmo shared the Golden Boot with five others.
Although Rodri could not play the second half of the final against England, the Man City midfielder's influence on Spain's championship was unmatched.
Rodri's excellent performance during his month-long journey in Germany has seen him rated as a contender for the France Football Ballon d'Or award later this year.
However, data analytics company Opta, based on performance reviews, announced the EURO 2024 squad without Rodri.
The presence of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was also a surprise. He made the most saves of the tournament (30), but Georgia were eliminated in the round of 16.
In addition, no Spanish champions' central defenders, nor any members of France's solid defence, were selected in Opta's best XI.
The center forward position was given by Opta to Cody Gakpo, one of 6 players sharing the Golden Boot. The Dutch player is not a striker, moreover, 2/3 of his goals were scored in the group stage, then he was silent in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

Right forward: Lamine Yamal (Spain).
Attacking midfielder: Dani Olmo (Spain).
Right forward: Nico Williams (Spain).
