'The Russian team did not come to Vietnam to play'

The Russian team will participate in the LPBank Cup 2024 friendly tournament, with two matches against host Vietnam (September 5) and Thailand (September 10). Coach Valeri Karpin and his students are expected to be present in Hanoi on September 4 after gathering in Novogorsk on September 1.

The Russian team (ranked 33rd in the world ) is rated much higher than the two opponents Vietnam (ranked 105th in the world) and Thailand (ranked 101st). However, in an interview on the website of the Russian Football Federation, defender Danil Krugovoy showed respect for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team and Thailand.

When asked to evaluate the Vietnamese and Thai teams, the 26-year-old defender of CSKA Moscow said: "Honestly, I don't know much about these two teams, except that the Vietnamese team is ranked 115th on the FIFA rankings, while Thailand is ranked 101st. I know the weather there is very hot. We will know more about them, but the whole team will win."

The Russian team will arrive in Hanoi on September 4.

This defender also confidently emphasized that the Russian team will "100%" win in the two matches against Vietnam and Thailand.

Despite being called up to the national team for the first time in 2022, Danil Krugovoy has only made one appearance. The CSKA Moscow defender returns to the Russian team this time to replace Igor Diveyev.
