Head coach Okiyama Masahiko shares about the team's training process

Evaluating the training trip in Japan, head coach Okiyama Masahiko said that the Vietnamese U20 women's players had the opportunity to compete with many strong teams, most of which were older. These were all good opportunities for the players to gain experience and improve their professional skills.

“We also realized that there are still some issues that need to be improved. This is a meaningful training trip, not only helping the players improve their skills but also broadening their cultural and lifestyle experiences, thereby contributing significantly to their comprehensive development,” said coach Okiyama Masahiko.

Regarding the upcoming goal, coach Okiyama Masahiko affirmed that the whole team is determined to overcome each match in the qualifying round to win a ticket to the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Finals.

“The team will try to score many goals to dedicate to the fans. We have now started to collect and analyze information of the opponents in the qualifying round, and continue to improve the remaining points from the recent U19 Women's Southeast Asian Championship,” added coach Okiyama Masahiko.

During the training session, player Do Thi Thuy Nga shared: “The team has clearly changed in terms of mentality and playing tactics. If before we were still lacking confidence and confused in how to deploy our playing style, after the training period, the whole team has become more united, adhered to better tactical discipline and played in an organized manner. I myself have also significantly improved my ability to hold the ball, reacted faster when being approached and improved my tactical thinking on the field.”

Promoting the spirit of determination and valuable lessons after the training trip in Japan, the Vietnam U20 women's team aims to conquer the qualifying round to win the right to participate in the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Finals, gradually affirming the progress and position of the country's women's football in the continental arena.
