According to the plan just issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Central Region Bai Choi Singing Festival is expected to take place from November 10-15, 2025 at An Hai Cultural House (No. 2 Vu Van Dung, An Hai Ward, Da Nang City).
This is an activity aimed at protecting and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritage of the art of Bài Chòi according to the Law on Cultural Heritage and the 2003 Convention on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO; meeting, exchanging, introducing and promoting to the public the typical folk performing art form of Bài Chòi, which has been listed by UNESCO in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Affirming the role of the community as the heritage subject in preserving and promoting the value of the heritage of Bai Choi singing, while honoring the artisans who are preserving and teaching this art form.
Along with that, it contributes to raising public awareness of the role of protecting and promoting the value of intangible cultural heritage of the Art of Bài Chòi in the heritage subject community in particular and in society in general.
With the theme "Fragrance and beauty of Central Vietnam 2025", the Central region Bai Choi Singing Festival will perform traditional Bai Choi melodies/tunes such as: Xang Xe, Ho Thai, Xuan Nu... praising the Party, Uncle Ho, praising the heroic fighting tradition, praising the beauty of the land and people of the Central region who are patient and hard-working in building the Central homeland; praising family affection, love between couples; praising the homeland and country; teaching morality, criticizing bad habits; telling folk tales, ancient stories, history..., without mixing modern background music;
Performing new creations of the community on the basis of ensuring the preservation of the poetic structure, melodies and traditional phonetics of the heritage of Bài Chòi, praising the Party, Uncle Ho, praising the heroic fighting tradition, praising the love for the homeland... Preserving the traditional values of Bài Chòi, not overly adapting.
Participating in the Festival are People's Artists, Meritorious Artists, Artists, practitioners of the intangible cultural heritage of the Art of Bài Chòi, Bài Chòi Clubs are members of the heritage community currently living in 7 provinces and cities, including: Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Dak Lak . Each province and city sends at least 1 team to participate in the Festival, each performing team has about 10 to 20 people, including Mr. Hieu/Mrs. Hieu (singer), players, musicians...
The organization of the Festival strictly complies with the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage and related guiding documents. The performance content must be consistent with the traditional identity and style of the art of Bai Choi singing, without mixing modern elements that would alter the heritage.
New creations must be based on the traditional melodies of the Bài Chòi heritage. The festival is not competitive, does not organize scoring, classification or awarding, avoids creating high-low distinctions, competition between individuals, heritage subject communities and is not in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage and the 2003 Convention; aims to create an environment for exchange, sharing and promoting heritage values in the community.
