Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, Deputy Minister of Health shared that after 15 years of formation and development, the Cardiovascular Center, E Hospital has successfully completed many tasks assigned by the Party, State, and Ministry of Health .
Developing from a medical facility that could not perform open heart surgery, the Cardiovascular Center has grown strongly to become a complete cardiovascular center, strong in the country, recognized by international friends and trusted by the people.
The Cardiovascular Center is the first facility in the country to successfully apply open heart surgery with endoscopy and full endoscopy; the first facility to apply 3D endoscopy in open heart surgery, organizing many scientific seminars related to this topic. Putting the cardiovascular intervention unit into operation in 2013, making the center a complete diagnostic and treatment unit.

Dr. Nguyen Cong Huu, Director of E Hospital, said that 15 years ago, the Prime Minister and leaders of the Ministry of Health personally came to cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Cardiovascular Center of E Hospital with the Decision to establish on August 26, 2009, which went into operation in February 2010, partly helping patients not have to wait for heart surgery.
The center was established and formed on the basis of a complete surgical team (surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses) from Viet Duc Hospital, internal medicine doctors from major hospitals such as Bach Mai, National Children's Hospital and the cardiovascular department of E Hospital.

The team of good doctors has mastered many advanced techniques in treating difficult cardiovascular diseases and has left its mark on the world cardiovascular map. Up to now, the Cardiovascular Center has affirmed its position and become a medical examination and treatment address that is trusted by many people and highly appreciated by colleagues.
According to Dr. Phan Thao Nguyen, Deputy Director of E Hospital - in charge of the Cardiovascular Center, the Center annually provides inpatient treatment for 8,000 patients, including surgery for more than 1,300 patients with heart, vascular and thoracic diseases. The Center routinely performs difficult techniques such as Fontan and Glenn surgeries, coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve replacement in elderly patients, severe heart failure, etc.
In particular, the Center is the first unit to perform routine endoscopic open heart surgery, with the largest number of over 900 cases and a high success rate of nearly 96%; has many published works domestically and internationally and transferred this method to other units.
Currently, the Center is the only surgical facility in the country that routinely performs endoscopic heart surgery using a 3D system, using endoscopy through holes smaller than 1.2cm for a number of cardiovascular diseases.
The center is currently one of the largest cardiovascular intervention facilities in the country, with more than 24,000 cases in both adults and children.
The center is one of the core hospitals transferring cardiovascular technology to hospitals in the satellite hospital system under the project of the Ministry of Health such as Bac Giang, Thai Binh, Ha Giang, Yen Bai... The center also cooperates with many international organizations: Okayama University Hospital, Kanazawa of Japan, Clermont Ferrand Hospital, French Republic...
Over the past 15 years, with the great achievements and contributions of the collective, officers and civil servants of the Cardiovascular Center, the Party, the State, the Ministry of Health, and departments have awarded: First Class Labor Medal (1 individual); Second Class Labor Medal (1 individual); Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister (2 individuals); Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Health (25 collectives and 68 individuals); Certificates of Merit from provinces and cities (20 individuals) and People's Physician (1 individual); Meritorious Physician (4 individuals). In 2024, 4 collectives and 10 individuals of the Cardiovascular Center, E Hospital received Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Health.
Within the framework of the 15th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Cardiovascular Center, the Cardiovascular Center, the Hospital organized a scientific conference that attracted about 1,000 delegates including professors, doctors, colleagues, medical managers, hospital leaders, department leaders of the Cardiovascular Center and E Hospital.

In addition, develop training programs to improve professional qualifications for domestic medical staff and those studying abroad to be able to routinely deploy and further develop modern techniques.
