Successfully energized the project to supply electricity from the national grid to Con Dao

Previously, at 7:09 p.m. on September 2, 2025, EVN also successfully energized the entire project to supply electricity from the national grid to Con Dao Special Zone ( Ho Chi Minh City). This is a particularly meaningful project to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

The successful energization has opened an important turning point for Con Dao, ensuring safe, continuous and stable power supply, meeting the needs of socio -economic development, serving national defense and security and improving people's lives.

The project also replaces on-site diesel power sources that are expensive and emit large amounts of emissions, thereby helping to reduce electricity production costs, limit greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to Vietnam's commitment to reducing emissions and promoting sustainable development.

According to EVN, the project to supply electricity from the national grid to Con Dao has a voltage scale of 110kV, a total length of 103.7km, including 17.5km of overhead line through Vinh Chau ward ( Can Tho ), 77.7km of submarine cable connecting from VT32 location (last tower at sea) to Con Dao and 8.5km of submarine cable on the island from the landing point to the 110kV transformer station at An Hoi Power Plant (Con Dao).

The project also includes the expansion of the 110 kV feeder at the 220 kV Vinh Chau Transformer Station (Can Tho) and the construction of the 110/22 kV GIS Transformer Station in Con Dao.

The project has a total investment of VND 4,923 billion, with EVN as the investor. The construction started in December 2024; by August 5, 2025, the expansion of the 220kV Vinh Chau transformer station will be completed; by August 12, 2025, the cable striping along the entire line will be completed; on August 22, 2025, the entire line will be energized for testing; and on September 2, 2025, the official energization will be completed.

Notably, on the morning of September 4, 2025, the 110kV Con Dao Transformer Station was successfully energized, marking the official introduction of national grid electricity to the island.

EVN emphasized that this project affirms its capacity to implement large-scale energy projects, applying modern technology, in complex and harsh construction conditions at sea.

The project's success demonstrates the determination of the Government, the electricity industry and participating units in caring for and developing infrastructure for the sea and island areas, border-island areas of the Fatherland.

Vietnam Electricity Group believes that the completion of the project has historical significance, opening a new development phase for Con Dao - a sacred island associated with many heroic milestones of the nation./.
