In the 12 subject scores that the Ministry of Education and Training has announced, the 3 subjects that make up the B00 group (math, chemistry, biology) all have lower average and median scores than last year. Moreover, math is considered a difficult subject as most candidates scored below average. In addition, biology has the lowest number of candidates registered for the exam among the subjects that make up the 5 traditional admission groups.
All three factors above create an unprecedented low B00 combination score spectrum.

Recruitment sources are only 1/12 of last year
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this year the whole country had 69,895 candidates taking the biology exam, but only 44,964 students took all three subjects of math, chemistry, and biology, meeting the requirements to participate in the B00 group; of which, 33,325 students scored 15 points or higher.
Meanwhile, according to the Department of Science, Technology and Training ( Ministry of Health ), in 2024, the health sector will recruit more than 46,000 students. In addition, many other sectors will use the B00 combination, such as the education and teacher training sector, and the life sciences - natural sciences sector.
Although not all majors in the health sector depend solely on the B00 recruitment source, it is possible to determine a "safe" recruitment source through the annual regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on the floor score of the health sector.

Last year and the year before, the lowest "floor" level of the health sector was 19, the corresponding recruitment sources were 241,907 (2024) and 240,949, more than 12 times higher than this year (19,396). Even many times higher than all candidates with the B00 admission combination.
The "floor" score for the medical and dental majors for many years has been 22.5. This year, if we consider the 22.5-point mark, the whole country only has 9,440 candidates in the B00 group. Meanwhile, the total quota for the medical major in the whole country in 2024 is about 11,500.
Assuming all candidates with combination B00 register for medical examination, the standard score for medical examination will be 21.5 points (at this score, the whole country has 11,945 candidates passing). This means that there is almost no source of candidates with 21.5 points or higher for other majors such as dentistry (a hot growth major, last year there were more than 2,000 targets, this year it could be up to nearly 4,000 targets), traditional medicine, preventive medicine...
Thus, in general, the health sector does not have enough candidates with the B00 combination to enroll. Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training will certainly have to reduce the number of candidates significantly compared to previous years when setting the "floor" score for the health sector. At the same time, the benchmark score for this sector is expected to be very low.
There are still industries with very high benchmark scores.
However, considering the high score (from 26.5 points and above), this year's recruitment source is not much different from previous years (this year there are 1,661 students passing, last year there were 3,862).
From 26.5 points or more, the gap between the number of B00 recruitment sources in 2025 and 2024 and 2023 is shortened.

The gap in recruitment sources between years is even narrower as the level increases. At 27 points, this year there are 1,055 students passing, last year there were 1,962 students passing. At 27.5 points, this year there are 613 students passing, last year there were 910 students passing. At 28 points, this year and last year are equivalent, 311 (2025) and 363 students passing.
Thus, for schools with high medical standards (27 or higher) in previous years, this year it is likely that the standards will remain the same as before. At least it will only decrease by 0.5 to 1 point. As for Hanoi Medical University, this year for the first time the school has a policy of rewarding candidates with IELTS certificates, with a bonus of 1 to 2 points, so the medical standards may be even higher than last year (last year the medical standards were 28.27).
Thus, the benchmark score only decreased sharply for schools that in previous years had benchmark scores at the floor level (22.5) or only a few points higher than the floor.
