Vietnam tourism welcomes nearly 14 million international visitors in 8 months

According to the General Statistics Office, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in August 2025 reached 1.68 million, an increase of 16.5% over the same period last year. In the first 8 months of 2025, the total number of international visitors reached nearly 14 million, an increase of 21.7% over the same period in 2024.

Notably, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in August 2025 increased by 7.8% compared to the previous month. Although it is still the low season for international tourism , the positive growth results in July and August have shown positive signals for the inbound tourism market.

In terms of market size, according to the General Statistics Office, the two markets of China and South Korea contribute nearly half of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam. Of which, China continues to be the largest market sending visitors to Vietnam with more than 3.5 million arrivals (accounting for 25.4%). South Korea ranks second, reaching over 2.9 million arrivals (accounting for 20.9%). The following positions are Taiwan (China) with more than 839,000 arrivals, the US with 573,000 arrivals, and Japan with 540,000 arrivals.

In the top 10 largest markets of Vietnamese tourism, there are also Cambodia (445 thousand arrivals), India (443 thousand arrivals), Russia (377 thousand arrivals), Australia (358 thousand arrivals), Malaysia (344 thousand arrivals).

In the first 8 months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached over 13.9 million, up 21.7% over the same period last year. Growth drivers came from Europe (up 33.2%), Asia (up 21.3%), Australia (up 14%), America (up 9.1%) and Africa (up 4.7%).

Major markets recorded high growth rates, including China (+44.3%), Japan (+17.1%), India (+42.2%), Cambodia (+50.7%). Southeast Asian markets grew well: Philippines (+93.4%), Cambodia (+50.7%), Laos (+33.1%), Indonesia (+13.1%), Malaysia (+9.8%), Singapore (+9.4%), Thailand (+8.1%).

In particular, the Russian market continues to grow very rapidly (+164.9%). The remarkable development of the Russian tourist market is the result of the tourism promotion and advertising program in Russia by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, localities and businesses in recent times.

The Indian market has also been growing steadily, reflecting the great potential of this market. In early September, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism is currently organizing a tourism promotion program in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The program is organized to consolidate and enhance the presence of Vietnamese tourism in the Indian market, create a forum for businesses to connect and expand cooperation with Indian tourism partners, thereby promoting tourist exchanges between the two countries.
