Mr. Cung Quynh Anh - Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - said green tourism is not only a global trend, but also a focus that Khanh Hoa needs to implement.
According to him, the development of Khanh Hoa green tourism standards is a tool for tourism businesses to carry out tasks and environmentally friendly solutions for accommodation facilities and tourist attractions.
Accordingly, the set of green tourism standards includes criteria for accommodation establishments (102 criteria) and tourist attractions (100 criteria). Units must meet criteria such as greenhouse gas emissions, green action criteria, sustainable development management team, environment, society, customers and employees, conservation of natural and cultural resources, etc.
Based on the criteria, tourism units and businesses self-assess the sustainability level of their current tourism business activities by accessing the self-assessment table on the green tourism software provided by the assessment council, to answer questions according to the criteria and indicators for the green tourism standards set of Khanh Hoa province.
The assessment of green tourism standards for accommodation and sightseeing places is divided into three levels: basic, advanced and excellent. The assessment and evaluation will then be chaired by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with relevant departments, branches and localities to establish an assessment and evaluation council.
Mr. Anh also said that the qualified units will be awarded a recognition decision and a certificate of green tourism standards by the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, the decisions are valid for 3 years.

Green tourism development is not a trend
Mr. Pham Minh Nhut - Chairman of Nha Trang Tourism Association (Khanh Hoa) - Photo: QUANG DINH
Mr. Pham Minh Nhut, Chairman of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, said that in order for Khanh Hoa tourism to become a green destination, previously, accommodation businesses and destinations in Khanh Hoa have regularly applied green tourism criteria.
He affirmed that developing green tourism is not a trend, this is a sustainable and long-term development direction.
From the business perspective, there are currently two important issues to develop green tourism, which are state management and business awareness.
Therefore, he recommends that businesses need to change their methods to adapt to green tourism activities right now, and not worry too much about the transition process and investment in facilities.
In addition, management agencies should have many incentive policies to encourage them to create sustainable product value.
Mr. Pham Minh Nhut believes that to do green tourism requires perseverance.
"Nha Trang used to do green tourism, but later the business stopped doing it. The reason is that the effort was not recognized by the community in terms of praise and revenue," he said.
He believes that green tourism is now a necessary and vital criterion in the tourism industry. "I affirm that difficulties still exist. People will not see the profits arising from green conversion yet, but when tourists get used to it, there will be profits. If we do not convert now, we will be slow," he shared.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Binh San - Chairman of the Institute of Landscape Architecture and Creative Arts, Director of Lang Nho - Ho Lang Nhot tourist area - shared about the pop-up resort model in ensuring natural landscape.
According to Mr. San, pop-up resorts are a way to experience nature and relax at the lowest cost but still fully equipped, suitable for a short period of time, aiming for the goal of net zero emissions. Pop-up resorts have the ability to change and move within a period of time without affecting the environment.
Mr. San said the pop-up trend is part of a global approach by the hotel industry to create authentic, intimate experiences.
However, the difficulty of this model is that it must change and be constantly creative, so there must be a creative team and technical technology so that when changing the resort's structures, it will not affect nature, ensuring dismantling and reuse.

Mr. Dinh Xuan Thuy, Deputy Commercial Director (Vietjet Aviation Company), said that the biggest challenge of the aviation industry is emissions from the aircraft system. However, Vietjet has deployed a system to monitor emissions from operations to passengers. From there, it has made a plan to reduce emissions.
"Coming to Khanh Hoa, with its green economic and green urban mechanisms, we immediately thought of joining hands with the province to establish a plan for green flights - green destinations," Mr. Thuy suggested.
He said that many airlines were granted green flight certificates by Khanh Hoa when participating in the green criteria, so Vietjet is not alone in its journey to participate in the green economy.
Sharing more about green flights, Mr. Thuy said that it is a short-term and long-term plan, because the common goal is to achieve big goals. There will be changes from very small such as airlines cutting emissions in the system of operating routes and aircraft, and passengers cutting the amount of waste that may arise at the destination or moving from the departure point.
Mr. Thuy added that the airline's flights to Khanh Hoa will increase in the near future, but must be calculated more carefully because the goal is not to increase emission control.
From 8am to 8pm on September 11, at the park area in front of Muong Thanh Luxury Khanh Hoa Hotel (Con residential area, Nha Trang ward), the Green Experience Festival will take place for all residents and tourists.
