Red River Festival 2024 will feature many exciting activities

The Red River Festival will be held from September to November 2024 with the theme “Where the Red River flows into Vietnam”. Lao Cai province will host the event, inviting Hong Ha district, Yunnan province (China) and provinces along the Red River of Vietnam to participate.

Lao Cai city is growing on the banks of the Red River.

The festival will take place in Lao Cai city, Bat Xat district. Cultural and tourism activities in response to the festival will be held in localities with tourism potential and advantages such as Sa Pa and Bac Ha.

At the festival, there will be many special activities, such as: Opening ceremony and art program, fireworks display (broadcast live on Vietnam Television); experiencing the cultural space and cuisine of ethnic groups in Lao Cai province and provinces along the Red River (Vietnam) and Hong Ha district, Yunnan (China); displaying beautiful photos, publications, documents, and artifacts about Lao Cai and the Red River; Marathon "Friendship Road" Lao Cai, Vietnam - Hong Ha, China; International Cycling Race "One track - two countries"; Open Golf Championship of Lao Cai province in 2024; International workshop "Solutions to promote cooperation and development between provinces in the Red River basin - Vietnam and Yunnan province - China; Campaign to compose theme songs about Lao Cai, the Red River...

The Red River Festival is organized to affirm the strategic position of Lao Cai province, linking the history of the Red River civilization with the history of formation and development of Lao Cai province, highlighting unique cultural values; educating traditions, arousing love for the homeland and pride of the people about the thousand-year history of their ancestors in Lao Cai land; promoting the potential and strengths of economic, cultural and social development of the province in the trend of integration and general development of the whole country.

Red River - the upstream of Lao Cai belongs to A Mu Sung commune (Lao Cai city).

Along with that, through the Festival, it will strengthen the connection, exchange and cooperation in economy, culture and tourism between the Northwestern provinces, the provinces along the Red River of Vietnam and Yunnan province - China; promote international cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism of Lao Cai province.
