The first half of 2025 smartphone poll organized by Thanh Nien has ended with the result leaning towards Galaxy Z Fold7. Samsung's new generation foldable phone received 4,448 votes out of 6,316 votes, accounting for 70.42%. This overwhelming ratio shows a clear change in users' views, when foldable smartphones, which were once considered "technological experiments", have now become the top choice.

In second place, the Oppo Find N5 – a compact foldable model – received 1,048 votes, or 16.59%. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, the only representative of the bar-shaped phone group in the top three, received only 542 votes (8.58%). The Honor Magic V5, also a foldable device, won 226 votes (3.58%). The Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which stands out for its photography capabilities, ranked last with 52 votes (0.82%).
This result reflects a shift in user preferences. Previously, the rankings were dominated by iPhones or bar-shaped models. But in the first half of 2025, users showed strong confidence in the foldable line. The Galaxy Z Fold7 has achieved a level of perfection to compete directly, from design, durability, to daily use experience.

Design is an important factor when the Galaxy Z Fold7 is considered significantly thinner and lighter than previous generations. When folded, the size of the device is almost equivalent to a bar smartphone, making it easy for users to put in their pocket and use. When opened, the 8.0-inch screen becomes a great advantage for multitasking, reading documents or entertainment. This is an improvement that overcomes one of the biggest limitations of the previous folding line - bulkiness.
The experience aspect also contributes to the difference. Foldable phones have not only stopped at being a novelty, but have developed into practical tools. The ability to run two or three applications in parallel on the large screen makes the Fold7 a worthy choice for work. This convenience, combined with software optimized specifically for folding, makes the device not only attractive in technology but also useful in everyday use.
In addition to design and experience, the voting results also show the growing importance of artificial intelligence. Users expect smartphones to be not only communication tools, but also personal assistants. The Galaxy Z Fold7 with its deeply integrated AI system, supporting Vietnamese, partly meets this need. Meanwhile, Apple has also brought Apple Intelligence to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, but its popularity and support in the Vietnamese market are still more limited.
iPhone 16 Pro Max, despite its solid performance with the A18 Pro chip and Apple Intelligence, has not made a clear difference in the Vietnamese market in the first half of 2025.

The decline of the iPhone 16 Pro Max is notable. Although it still maintains its position in the high-end segment, this model only accounts for less than 9% of the votes. That shows that the iPhone still has a loyal customer base, but its previous absolute advantage has decreased. Vietnamese users are more open to new options, especially when Asian brands bring clear improvements in design and features.
Oppo Find N5 and Honor Magic V5 also received support, although the vote percentage was lower than that of Fold7. This is a signal that foldable phones are no longer the “playground” of a single brand. Chinese companies have quickly grasped the trend, launching products that are more suitable for Asian usage habits: compact, light, competitively priced. However, the gap in terms of completion and ecosystem is still quite far from Samsung.

In the remaining group, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra – representing a camera-focused bar phone – received less than 1% of the votes. This reflects that the camera advantage, while important, is not enough to become a decisive factor in the competition in the high-end segment. Users tend to look for a device that balances many factors: new design, performance, AI and practicality.
The overall results of the poll show a turning point. Foldable phones, after many years of development, have reached maturity to step out into the competition. The Galaxy Z Fold7 won overwhelmingly not only thanks to its brand reputation, but also thanks to overcoming inherent weaknesses, providing an experience close to that of a bar phone but with the advantage of a large screen and multitasking.
This shift signals that in the near future, foldable smartphones will no longer be a “niche market” but can become a mainstream trend.
