Today, February 9, according to information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Tri, due to the influence of the cold air, from the evening of February 7 to the early morning of February 9, there was widespread rain in the province. Especially in Hai Lang and Trieu Phong districts, there was heavy to very heavy rain, flooding many areas of rice and dry winter-spring crops.

Specifically, as of 10:00 a.m. on February 9, the entire province had nearly 3,550 hectares of rice in the tillering stage flooded with water from 20 - 30 cm, some places up to 40 cm deep, mainly concentrated in Hai Lang district with more than 2,740 hectares, Trieu Phong 440 hectares, Gio Linh 160 hectares, Vinh Linh 44 hectares, Dong Ha city 145 hectares...

Currently, localities are mobilizing all human resources and machinery to drain the flood, using sandbags to reinforce weak dike sections, preventing water from overflowing the dike. However, the current difficulty is that some low-lying areas of Hai Lang district have flooded, overflowing the dike system in the fields, making it difficult to drain the flood. Specifically, some pumping stations in Hai Dinh commune and Dien Sanh town are currently unable to drain the flood because the drainage system to the river has been closed to prevent river water from overflowing into the fields. It is expected that if the rainfall decreases, it will take at least 4-5 days to basically complete the drainage, after which technical solutions will be deployed to overcome the natural disaster.
