The color-restored portrait of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Le Thi My was restored by the Liaison Committee of the Public Security supporting the Southern battlefield during the resistance war against the US to save the country in coordination with the Soldier's Heart Organization and presented to museums along with 7 other heroes in the public security sector on September 5.
Special family, mother and daughter received the title of hero one day
Vietnamese Heroic Mother Le Thi My (1901 - 1989) was born in Truc Ninh, Nam Dinh (old), into a poor patriotic farming family.
She had four sons. Her eldest son was a liberation soldier in the Tran Hung Dao War Zone and heroically sacrificed his life on the Route 5 front in Hai Duong during the resistance war against the French colonialists.
During the resistance war against the US, mother Le Thi My encouraged her three remaining sons to join the army and fight in the Southern battlefield. Her youngest son also heroically sacrificed his life in the battlefield of Zone V in 1970.
Another son of the mother, Major General Phan Van Lai, was also awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.
In 2016, the Party Committee and government of Phuong Dinh commune, Truc Ninh district, Nam Dinh (old) solemnly held a ceremony to simultaneously receive the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother for Le Thi My and the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces for Major General Phan Van Lai.

Father and son are police generals, 95-year-old father launches book
There are also rare families where both father and son are promoted to general officer rank in the People's Public Security force like the family of Major General Phan Van Lai, son of Le Thi My.
Major General Phan Van Lai is former Deputy Director General of the General Department of Force Building , Ministry of Public Security , former Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Public Security.
Currently 95 years old and 75 years of Party membership, he still holds the important responsibility of Head of the Public Security Liaison Committee supporting the Southern battlefield during the resistance war against the US to save the country.
This is an organization representing about 12,000 elite police officers who volunteered to “go to B” during the resistance war against the US. Thousands of people have sacrificed their lives and gone missing.
He has an eldest son, Major General Phan Quoc Thai, born in 1957, former Director of Security Logistics Department 1 - Ministry of Public Security.
On this occasion, Major General Phan Van Lai launched his memoir Battlefield and Homeland .
This book is written in the memoir genre, telling about the life and career of Major General Phan Van Lai with many rich contents, but the highlight is the patriotic tradition of his homeland and family, and the outstanding achievements of his comrades such as Bay Khiem and Le Van Tri (later posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State)...

Seven restored color photos of other heroes and martyrs in the police force were also donated to museums.
That was comrade To Quyen (1929 - 1996), representing the generation of police officers who participated in the resistance war against France and supported the Southern battlefield in the resistance war against America.
