Professor Alexey Ustinov is currently the Director of the Laboratory of Superconducting Quantum Technologies at the National University of Science and Technology, Russian Federation (MISiS).

He is known as one of the pioneering scientists in the research of superconducting qubits - the core foundation of quantum computer technology. He also initiated and successfully implemented many important works on Josephson circuits, quantum solitons and new generation superconducting materials, which are highly appreciated by the international scientific community.

He received a Mega Grant from the Russian Government (2011, worth 3.5 million euros) to build the “Superconducting Metamaterials” laboratory at MISiS; won the Google Faculty Research Award (2017) in the field of quantum computing; and many other prestigious international awards. His works have contributed to shaping the direction of research on quantum coherence at the macro scale and developing advanced quantum measurement and telecommunication technologies.
