Turning low-lying land into a "gold mine"
Carefully pumping the water system to clean the frog cage, Mr. Dao Van Hoa (residing in block 6, Tan Mai ward, Nghe An province) said that the most important thing in raising frogs is the water source as a living environment and food source. If the environment is clean, the food is properly and nutritiously provided, the frogs will grow well, have high productivity and earn a good income.
“Raising frogs is not too difficult, the important thing is to grasp the technique and be diligent in observing the frogs’ habits. Healthy frogs are easy to raise,” Mr. Hoa said, adding that his Thai frog farming model has a stable income and earns 400-500 million VND every year.

Looking at the results of Mr. Hoa's frog farming model, few people know that this man also had "struggles" on the path of starting a business and failed many times. Mr. Hoa said that he himself is a farmer with mud on his hands and feet. After decades of working in the fields but life was still difficult, Mr. Hoa began to think and find a new direction to "eliminate hunger and reduce poverty", gradually rising to develop the economy .
More than 3 years ago, Mr. Hoa started traveling to many different provinces to visit and learn about some Thai frog farming models. Realizing the potential of the large frog farming model, the market expanded. Moreover, in the locality there were many abandoned fields suitable for farming environment, Mr. Hoa decided to borrow more money to start a business.

True to his word, Mr. Hoa boldly transformed more than 1,000 square meters of low-lying rice fields into a system of solid cement ponds. Mr. Hoa paved each pond with clean, beautiful tiles, and placed bamboo planks inside to provide a resting and sunbathing area for the frogs. In addition, Mr. Hoa invested in a clean irrigation and drainage system for each pond.
Mr. Hoa said that raising frogs is not difficult. The food sources for frogs are rich and diverse, such as small fish, trash fish, shrimp, mussel meat, clams, earthworms, and earthworms. To reduce costs, Mr. Hoa also uses corn, rice, soybeans, bean dregs, molasses, biological products, etc. to grind them into small pellets and put them into a machine to make daily food for frogs. In addition, Mr. Hoa also adds some vitamins and industrial bran mixed in certain proportions for frogs to grow and develop well.

Every day, Mr. Hoa feeds the frogs twice a day, morning and evening, with just enough food to avoid polluting the water environment. Mr. Hoa changes the water in the tanks twice a day, and uses biological products to keep the breeding environment clean.
Help people gradually escape poverty
Each batch of frogs is raised for about 100 days. When the frogs reach a weight of 4-5 per kilogram, they will be harvested and sold. Thanks to the methodical method, each year Mr. Hoa's model supplies the market with about 12 tons of commercial frogs and tens of thousands of young frogs. With a stable selling price of 50,000 - 60,000 VND/kg, after deducting expenses, his family earns 400 - 500 million VND/year.

Not only continuing to learn to develop the model, Mr. Hoa also imparts knowledge, experience and provides breeds for local people to experiment with. “I always hope that people can escape poverty and have a stable income from this frog farming model,” Mr. Hoa said.
Mr. Le Van Thang - Vice Chairman of Tan Mai Ward Farmers' Association said: "Mr. Hoa's frog farming model brings high and sustainable economic efficiency. This is a typical economic model, improving the lives of local people".

From a farmer who struggled all year round with a few fields, Mr. Hoa has now risen to become a typical economic model. Not only that, many local households have come to learn and follow the model to gradually develop the economy and rise up to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.
