The 2025 Grammys will have a new purpose

The annual Grammy music awards ceremony is said to "go ahead as planned" at Crypto.com Arena on February 2 (local time).

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and Board Chair Tammy Hurt issued a statement to CNN's Elizabeth Wagmeister on Monday saying the Grammy Awards will not be rescheduled or postponed. However, the purpose of the ceremony this year will be different than usual. Both said the Grammys "will bring new purpose" and that the organization has "worked closely with local authorities to ensure public safety and responsible use of resources in the area."

The new goal of the 2025 Grammy Awards is to raise "additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honor the courage and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect us."

"In difficult times, music has an unparalleled power to heal, comfort and unite," the Grammys said in a statement. "The Grammy Awards not only celebrate the artistry and achievements of our music community, but also serve as a platform to amplify the resilient spirit of the great city of Los Angeles."
