According to a survey by Dan Tri newspaper reporters, after a series of interest rate cuts by banks since the end of February, by June, the number of units reducing interest rates had gradually thinned out.
However, banks are gradually reducing deposit interest rates. The move comes after the Prime Minister ordered an intensive inspection of banks that have recently increased deposit interest rates.
The head of the Government requested strict handling of violations and non-compliance with the directive. In particular, the Governor of the State Bank needs to consider and decide on the use of management tools on credit growth limits and license revocation as prescribed.

Interest rates of 6%/year are very rare in the market. According to the current interest rate table, the highest rate in the market is 6.1%/year, but only 3 banks list rates of 6%/year or higher.
Bac A Bank lists an interest rate of 6.1%/year for term deposits of 18-36 months, with interest paid at the end of the term. However, this highest interest rate is only applied to deposits over 1 billion VND.
At HDBank, the interest rate for 18-month deposits at the counter, with interest paid at the end of the term, is listed at 6% per year. For online interest rates, HDBank lists a bank interest rate of 6% per year for 15-month deposits (interest paid at the end of the term) and the highest interest rate is up to 6.1% per year for 18-month deposits.
The third bank listed at 6%/year is Vikki Digital Bank Limited (Vikki Bank). Vikki Bank applies an online deposit interest rate of 6%/year for savings deposits with terms of 13 months or more. This is also the highest deposit interest rate among Vikki Bank's deposit products.
