Heavy rain in Hanoi, warning of high flooding on roads in the city

Early this morning, October 7, Hanoi had very heavy rain due to the circulation of storm Matmo (storm number 11). Some roads in the city are at high risk of flooding this morning.

Updated at 5:20 am on October 7, the rainfall in the past 6 hours in Hanoi generally ranged from 40-80mm. Some stations recorded outstanding rainfall, including Soc Son station with 116mm and Thuong Cat station with 91mm.

This morning, Hanoi is forecast to continue to have moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with average rainfall of 40-70mm. Some areas will still have very heavy rain, possibly over 100mm.

More detailed forecasts show that in the next 3-6 hours, Hanoi and surrounding areas will continue to have moderate to heavy rain. Total accumulated rainfall during this period is about 20-70mm, in some places it can reach over 100mm.

From this evening and tonight, rain is forecast to decrease rapidly.

People need to be especially vigilant against the risk of flooding in low-lying streets in inner-city Hanoi.
