The AQI index in Hanoi reached 182 and was ranked 3rd in the 10 most polluted cities in the world by Air Visual.
On December 3, information from the air quality monitoring application Air Visual showed that the air quality index (AQI) of Hanoi was very poor, with high levels of pollution as the air everywhere was covered by thick fog and fine dust.
At 8:00 a.m. the same day, the AQI index in Hanoi reached 182 and was ranked 3rd in the 10 most polluted cities in the world by Air Visual, after the two cities of Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan.
The reason for the prolonged air pollution in the North and Hanoi is due to the change in weather during the winter season, which causes pollutants (fine dust and vehicle exhaust) to not be dispersed high up but to concentrate close to the ground. Along with that, it is now the end of the year, so traffic, industrial, construction and civil activities (burning garbage, burning straw) increase.
