Two coaches of Khanh Hoa U.17 and U.19 were forced to resign after the scandal of embezzling player money.

On September 14, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhuan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa, said that the Khanh Hoa Sports Technical Training Center had disciplined coach Nguyen Ty of the U.17 team and coach Dang Dao of the U.19 Khanh Hoa team by forcing them to quit their jobs.

According to Mr. Nhuan, the two coaches have returned the illegal money that the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports Inspectorate pointed out. Khanh Hoa Provincial Police have worked with the Department Inspectorate regarding the violations of Mr. Dao and Mr. Ty. Currently, the Department is completing the documents to send to the police agency for the next steps.

As Thanh Nien reported, the recent conclusion of the Inspectorate of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province clearly pointed out that coaches Nguyen Ty and Dang Dao controlled bank cards, kept food and salary money of athletes, causing the loss of hundreds of millions of dong in state assets.

Specifically, the U.17 team practices every day of the week, except Sunday. However, in 2021, 2022 and 2023, there were many months when the team only practiced from Monday to Friday every week. On Saturday, athletes in the province were allowed to go home and not practice, while athletes from other provinces remained at the center but did not practice in reality. Thus, Coach Nguyen Ty's work on Saturday caused a loss of more than 61.7 million VND to the state budget.

Two athletes were given time off from training by Mr. Nguyen Ty but did not propose to the Center Director to terminate their labor contracts, and were still on the training list to receive wages and food allowances, resulting in a loss of nearly 123 million VND.

Also by keeping the ATM card and password, Coach Dang Dao allowed 2 athletes who had actually stopped training but still kept the training list to receive wages and food allowances without proposing to the Center Director to terminate their labor contracts and stop training. This action caused a loss of more than 315 million VND to the state budget.

According to the Inspector of the Department of Culture and Sports, the violations committed by Mr. Dang Dao and Nguyen Ty were intentional abuse of their positions and powers, causing losses to the state budget and appropriating part of the athletes' wages and meals. During the inspection, Mr. Dao and Mr. Ty actively remedied the consequences, paying back part of the athletes' wages and meals based on the agreement between the two parties.

The Inspectorate recommended transferring the case file to the Police Department to investigate criminal violations against the two coaches of U.17 and U.19 Khanh Hoa.
