Hai Phong: Determined not to interrupt HIV/AIDS treatment

In order to ensure effective treatment and maintain a stable drug supply, specialized units have reported on the use of ARV drugs and proposed solutions to avoid interruptions in drug supplies from the PEPFAR program. The health sector has also organized many training courses to improve the capacity of health workers at hospitals, centers and health stations on HIV/AIDS prevention, control and treatment. At the same time, the city has stepped up coordination and monitoring of hepatitis C (HCV) treatment facilities to ensure that eligible patients have access to drugs from the Global Fund. Activities under the project to enhance technical assistance for HIV/AIDS prevention and control in Vietnam (EPIC) and the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control (QTC) are also being implemented as planned.

In terms of addiction treatment, the city currently has 13 Methadone treatment facilities, managing 2,896 patients. Notably, 955 patients are being given Methadone for many days at 12 facilities, contributing to improving the quality of treatment. Methadone reserves at the facilities are fully guaranteed.

In the coming time, the health sector plans to organize a training course on key HIV/STI surveillance and deploy the collection of 300 test samples among drug addicts by 2025. At the same time, continue to update information on people infected with HIV/AIDS according to new administrative boundaries on the HIV Info software, in coordination with the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control and regional medical centers. Synthesize the estimated supply of ARV drugs, PrEP, Methadone, tuberculosis treatment drugs, biological products and harm reduction interventions. Procedures for implementing EPIC and QTC project activities will continue to be completed, ensuring progress and effectiveness.
