(NLDO) - The traditional musical instrument competition named F-Sound Thanh AmFPT University season 3-2024 has made a strong impression.

On the evening of December 13, the Final Round of the Contest was held at FPT University, Ho Chi Minh City, attracting a large audience of students with the desire to bring a healthy cultural and entertainment playground for young people.

Contestant Le Thanh Hung - student of Software Engineering Faculty, FPT University, Ho Chi Minh City won the championship.

The jury included artists: Meritorious Artist – Doctor Nguyen Thi Hai Phuong, Meritorious Artist Dinh Linh, Meritorious Artist Anh Tan – Head of the Bong Sen Traditional Music and Dance Theater. They all expressed their emotions at the achievements of the students of Master Vu Thi Kim Yen, Head of the Department of Traditional Music of FPT University, Ho Chi Minh City.

The contest provided young people with useful knowledge about folk music in general and musical instruments in particular through the competition of 11 finalists.

Ms. Phung Thi Ngoc Thuy, Director of Duc Ngan Trading and Service Company Limited - the sponsor of the contest, expressed her joy at the results achieved from nurturing the young generation's understanding of traditional musical instruments, thereby contributing to preserving the nation's roots.

In this round, 11 contestants performed 1 Vietnamese folk song and 1 song or a contemporary instrumental piece using their chosen instrument from 5 types of musical instruments: bamboo flute, zither, moon lute, monochord and pipa.

Contestants can use beat music or accompaniment to support their works and they conquered the audience and judges with melodies filled with emotions and brought to the performance space a luxurious enjoyment through their performances.

Three talented artists, also three members of the Jury, performed in the final round, responding to the competition's spirit of loving traditional music.

Meritorious Artist Dinh Linh commented that the contestants clearly expressed their regional characteristics through their works. Although they were not yet proficient, they demonstrated their efforts in practicing. What is more meaningful is that they have absorbed the character, soul, and emotions through each work, while their main profession is to study technology.

Mr. Minh Tuan awarded the prize for the contestant voted by the audience as the most favorite in the final round to Le Nhut Tien - Faculty of Artificial Intelligence - FPT University, Ho Chi Minh City

Meritorious Artist Dr. Nguyen Thi Hai Phuong said that the contestants are all young talents. They have studied and made efforts to learn during school hours but spent a lot of time practicing, then demonstrated through this competition their burning passion for traditional music.

As a result, the first prize went to Le Thanh Hung (student of the Faculty of Software Engineering) – performing the zither with the song "Vong Co" and the work "Sang Xuan" by People's Artist Phuong Bao; the second prize went to Pham Tu Ky (student of the Faculty of Information Systems) – performing the bamboo flute with the songs "Hanh Van - Hue Ancient Music" and "Canh Chim Tu Do" (Meritorious Artist Trieu Tien Vuong); the third prize went to Truong Tan Kiet (student of the Faculty of Software Engineering) – performing the monochord "Van Thien Tuong Lop Dung - Tai Tu Nam Bo" and "Nhip Cau Que Huong" by Meritorious Artist Toan Thang.

The organizers also awarded the most popular contestant to Le Nhat Tien (student of Artificial Intelligence faculty) - performing the moon lute and 8 consolation prizes to 8 other contestants.
