Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung, Head of the Co May Dormitory Management Board, shared: “This year, the dormitory plans to enroll 100 students. However, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Oanh, wife of Mr. Pham Van Ben, the founder of the dormitory, realized that many students have special circumstances such as orphans, sick parents, lottery ticket sellers, scrap collectors... In addition, students from Thua Thien Hue and Quang Tri provinces... were affected by storms and floods and their families suffered heavy losses, so she decided to increase the number to 116 students.”
Students staying at Co May Dormitory are supported with tuition fees each semester and weekly meals. Not only that, students are also supported with foreign language and IT studies according to the school's output requirements. While staying at the dormitory, students also study and practice soft skills and physical fitness.

Each new student is given blankets, mosquito nets and pillows.

Coming to Ho Chi Minh City to study, Nguyen Van Khanh, a first-year student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, from Quang Tri, was moved: “My hometown is flooded, my family's belongings are submerged in water, crops are inundated. My mother, grandmother and sisters are at home fighting the flood.” Khanh added that he feels lucky and happy to be in Co May Dormitory. He will not have to worry about tuition fees or transportation. The Co May Dormitory scholarship has continued his dream of going to university.
When asked about his concerns about tuition fees, Nguyen Van Thanh, a second-year student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, said: "Tuition fees are the biggest burden on my mother's shoulders. That's why I feel really happy and excited to receive timely support from Co May Dormitory. That is a great motivation to help me fulfill my dream."
Similarly, Le Ngoc Nhu Y, a first-year student at the University of Finance and Marketing, expressed: “Living here helps me miss home less. I consider this as a real family. Co May Dormitory has created all favorable conditions in terms of both material and spiritual facilities to help me realize my dreams and ambitions.”
To apply for Co May Dormitory, students must have poor or difficult family circumstances, be orphaned, have no financial resources to continue their studies, and be excellent high school students. Priority is given to students who are excellent at district, provincial, and city levels and have high scores in the Ho Chi Minh City National University's aptitude test.
In addition, students who maintain their scholarship for the next semester, have an average semester grade point average of 8 points (on a 10-point scale), or 3.5 points (on a 4-point scale), or are considered to be in the top 10% of the faculty or major.
