In mid-May, Google announced that it would delete all Gmail accounts that have not been used for at least two years. The inactive accounts will be deleted in phases starting in December, starting with addresses that were created but never used.

"If a Google Account is not used or signed in for at least two years, the personal account and its content will be deleted," Google announced.

The new policy adds that in addition to losing access to email addresses, other data including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, documents in the Workspace suite, and Google Photos backups will also be deleted.
Google currently has no plans to delete the YouTube channel associated with the account. This is because some channels or videos may be historical, used for reference or long-term storage.
"Before deleting an account, we will continuously send notifications for several months to the primary email address and recovery email if available," said a Google representative.
9to5Google said the above policy will only apply to accounts created for free by individual users, not to addresses managed by schools or businesses.
