Attractive, gathering many prominent faces

The 2024 National Taekwondo Championship for all ages will take place from August 15 to 22 at the Tien Giang Provincial Gymnasium. This is an annual tournament, with the participation of more than 1,000 coaches, athletes, and officials from 44 units in provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide. Outstanding athletes at this year's tournament will be selected for the national youth team, participating in events such as the World Youth Championship (October 2024 in Korea).

In 2024, the tournament will include 4 youth age groups for both men and women. In the under 12 age group, there will be 22 events (12 sparring events and 10 forms). Ages 12 to 14: 32 events (22 sparring events and 10 forms). Ages 15 to 17: 33 events (23 sparring events and 10 forms) and finally, the 18 to 20 age group: 31 events (21 sparring events and 10 forms).

The tournament promises to bring exciting matches.

Outstanding young faces participating in the upcoming tournament include: Nguyen Thi Mai (2006) - Bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Youth Championship, National Gold Medal 2023, Southeast Asian Youth Gold Medal 2023. Nguyen Thi Loan (2006) - Silver medal at the 2022 Asian Youth Championship, National Gold Medal 2023, Southeast Asian Youth Silver Medal 2023. Tran Trinh Trong (2007) - Bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Youth Championship, Southeast Asian Youth Gold Medal 2023. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh (2008) - Southeast Asian Youth Gold Medal 2023. Nguyen Huu Phat (2008) - Southeast Asian Youth Silver Medal 2023.

Notably, the 2024 National Youth Taekwondo Championship continues to receive sponsorship from CJ Group - a leading multi-industry economic group in Korea. Over the years, CJ has invested in Vietnam in many fields, including taekwondo.

To prepare for strategies and solutions to develop Vietnamese taekwondo in the coming years, on April 3, 2024, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong had a meeting with CJ Vietnam Group. At the meeting, Mr. Chang Bok-sang, Chairman and General Director of CJ Vietnam Group, wished to continue to strengthen cooperation and strategies for training and caring for athletes, aiming to achieve high achievements.

Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong affirmed that the cooperation between the two sides over the past 20 years has contributed to promoting Vietnam's culture, sports and tourism. In particular, in the field of sports , the development of taekwondo is proof of the success of this cooperation.

The 2024 National Youth Taekwondo Tournament is one of the important tournaments of Vietnamese taekwondo.

At the meeting, Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training Dang Ha Viet analyzed the strengths and difficulties of taekwondo. He also proposed the contents that need to be strengthened by CJ Vietnam Group such as: training of young athletes, organizing training, improving the quality of the coaching staff, unifying training programs in localities, and increasing the number of athletes training and competing in international tournaments.
