Laziness in dental care causes many diseases, affects smile aesthetics, impacts overall health and reduces quality of life.
According to Dr. Nguyen Huu Nam from Kim Dental Clinic, being lazy about oral care and not having regular dental check-ups is a common situation in Vietnam. Currently, over 85% of children in our country have tooth decay, about 80% of adults face gingivitis and periodontitis. This is the cause of tooth loss, affecting facial aesthetics, and at the same time, health.
Doctors point out some consequences of tooth loss:
Difficulty chewing, affecting the digestive system : due to reduced chewing force, food is not crushed thoroughly, the stomach has to work harder to process and metabolize nutrients. Over time, the stomach will be damaged and susceptible to ulcers.
Misaligned teeth, malocclusion : because a missing tooth creates a gap in the jaw, the adjacent teeth begin to lean toward the missing tooth, the opposite tooth sags, changing the bite. Over time, this can lead to facial deviation, pain in the temples, and jaw fatigue.
Premature aging : the bone in the area where the tooth is lost will quickly disappear, changing the shape of the face such as sunken cheeks, sagging skin...
Causes other oral diseases : at the location of the missing tooth, the gums are not protected and are easily scratched and bleeding. Misaligned teeth will have gaps where food sticks, causing bacteria to accumulate, continuing to cause other diseases such as gingivitis, periodontitis, bad breath...
"Bacteria from infections in the gums can travel to the lungs causing acute bronchitis, infection or pneumonia," the doctor explained.
Persistent toothaches can disrupt our lives, affecting our work and daily enjoyment.
Kim Dental representative said that delayed dental care can lead to serious consequences, affecting health in the long run, causing life to be interrupted and incomplete. Fun parties with friends, sports and work can be delayed because of annoying toothaches.
When asked "Why don't you have regular dental check-ups?", most people will ask back: "Why do you have to go to the dentist when your teeth don't hurt?". Doctors explain that if you wait until symptoms of prolonged tooth sensitivity, gingivitis, chipped teeth, large cavities appear before checking, the condition will have become more serious, taking more time and money to treat, and there is a high risk of tooth loss.
Failure to detect oral diseases promptly will make treatment complicated and costly.
Others said they did not go to the doctor because they were afraid of pain. According to the representative of Kim Dental Clinic, with the support of new equipment and technology systems (CT Cone Beam machine, wisdom tooth extraction with Piezotome ultrasound machine, whitening with Bleach Bright...), the diagnosis and treatment process will be gentler, smoother, and no longer a nightmare for many people.
Responding to World Oral Health Day (March 20), Kim Dental Clinic launched the program "Take care of your teeth now - Live without delay" to raise awareness in the community, encouraging everyone to take care of their teeth early.
"Build a habit of proper oral care, regular dental check-ups and promptly treat related diseases. Only when you have a healthy and beautiful smile can you live your life to the fullest with your work and passion," said the representative of the unit.
