Each unit of blood “given” by voluntary blood donors is a precious gift of life. Scientists have confirmed that blood in each person’s body is a precious “medicine” that cannot be replaced by anything.

Precious as it is, there are still many people around us who are willing to share their warm blood to save others. That is clearly demonstrated through the blood donation campaigns organized in localities and units in the province in recent times.

Most of the blood donation campaigns met and exceeded the planned targets. There were even many campaigns where the number of volunteers was too large, but there were not enough blood bags (prepared according to the plan), so they had to regretfully leave and told themselves that the next time there was a campaign, they would try to come early to donate blood.

Not only are they willing to share the precious blood in their bodies, many people after their first blood donation also "fall in love" with promoting this movement. They will participate in blood donation again; they use their own reality to propagate and mobilize relatives, colleagues, friends, neighbors... to donate blood. One of the voluntary blood donors and also a typical propagandist in the voluntary blood donation movement in the province is Mr. Duong Quang Toan, in Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city.

Toan himself has participated in the blood donation drive 50 times so far. The number of people he has encouraged to participate in the blood donation drive has reached thousands. After the first blood donation drive, Toan began to encourage his relatives, then people in the residential area, and friends to join. Later, to facilitate the mobilization work, in addition to direct mobilization, he also established the Fanpage "Voluntary Blood Donation - Blood of Love Binh Duong " to regularly update the blood donation schedule for volunteers to follow and register to participate when possible. This is also where he posts pictures of blood donation drives in the province to encourage the spirit of blood donors, spread beautiful images and attract more and more people to register to participate.

Mr. Duong Quang Toan said that when participating in HMTN, what made him happiest was not how many times he donated blood, but that he contributed to spreading this noble humanitarian movement to more people. “My blood can help save people, but if more people join, we can save more patients…”, Mr. Toan said.

Spreading the humanitarian movement

According to statistics, currently in the province there are 230 HMTN clubs, reserve blood donation clubs, rare blood type clubs, blood donation family clubs, with nearly 5,000 members. This is the active force, along with the regular response of the people, has contributed to maintaining the rate of repeat blood donation at over 60%.

In recent times, the blood donation movement in the province has grown stronger and stronger. On average, each year, tens of thousands of people register to donate blood and donate blood again. The meaningful messages of the movement such as "Every drop of blood given - A life remains", "Donate a drop of blood - Give life" ... are not only common slogans, but have been deeply engraved in the thinking and become regular actions and deeds of many people.

The leader of the Provincial Red Cross Society said that thanks to the active blood donation and mobilization of volunteers, the blood donation movement in the province has been growing and spreading widely in recent times. Thanks to those who are willing to "give without expecting anything in return", our lives are always filled with love, kindness and become more beautiful.

It can be said that the work of HMTN mobilization in recent times has been promoted and organized synchronously from the province to the grassroots. With the participation of cadres, members and volunteers of the Red Cross at all levels in propaganda and mobilization work, this movement has increasingly attracted the active participation of cadres, union members, members, students, workers and people of all walks of life.

According to data from the Provincial Red Cross, in 2024, the whole province received 27,627/20,600 units of blood, reaching 134% of the target assigned by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the Red Cross at all levels coordinated to organize many blood collection campaigns in localities, units, and enterprises. Thereby, 13,418 units of safe, quality blood were received, contributing to meeting the treatment needs at medical facilities; reaching 65.5% of the target assigned by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in the year.
