Completing transport infrastructure, especially roads and seaports, helps Quang Tri become an inter-regional logistics center, while affirming its position as an important bridge and gateway in the domestic and international inter-regional strategy.

Currently, hundreds of workers and machines are working overnight to complete berth No. 1 and berth No. 2 of My Thuy seaport. Mr. Dao Van Dat, Deputy Manager of the My Thuy Port Construction Investment Project, shared that all officers and workers have shown a high spirit of enthusiasm for work and unanimously agreed to speed up the construction progress to ensure the project's progress.

My Thuy deep-water port is put into operation, expected to become the logistics center of the Central region, a strategic cargo transit center on the EWEC route when directly connecting with Lao Bao International Border Gate and La Lay International Border Gate. Welcoming the opportunity to invest in logistics, many businesses have been investing in cargo transit warehouses near My Thuy seaport area. General Director of Quang Tri Forestry Products Joint Stock Company Nguyen Minh Thanh said that the business is urgently implementing a project to level the ground to build a warehouse to store wood chips exported through My Thuy port.

Hue City also identifies logistics as a key economic sector in the future and is making efforts to improve the investment environment and policy mechanisms for this sector. According to the leaders of Hue City People's Committee, logistics is considered a new driving force for competition, promoting sustainable supply chains. Hue has a synchronous infrastructure network including roads, seaways, aviation and railways. Among them, Chan May port is developed into a large transit port and an international logistics system; Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone will be a multimodal transport transit center. Together with a dynamic business force, Hue is confident in the opportunity to become a logistics center of the region and the whole country.

Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone is attracting investment resources to build a modern logistics center, providing integrated solutions between warehousing, transportation and accompanying logistics services. LEC Group Company invested in Chan May Logistics Center with a scale of nearly 40 hectares with hundreds of thousands of square meters of warehouses that are gradually being completed, meeting the maximum needs of customers.

According to LEC Group Project Director Do Thai Duong, in order to improve the competitiveness and efficiency of logistics activities in Hue , it is necessary to build specific incentive mechanisms for this industry such as tax exemptions and reductions, land rents, and speed up the process of granting investment licenses for projects to attract large investors, creating a cohesive and bustling playground in the region. Build a convenient transportation route connecting Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone with La Son - Tuy Loan highway to shorten the transportation time from the Central Highlands, Southern Laos, and Northeast Thailand to Chan May port. Build a traffic route from Laos to A Dot Border Gate, connecting with the existing traffic route to Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone, creating favorable conditions for the import and export of goods from the two provinces of Sekong and Salavan of Laos and further to Thailand through the logistics center and Chan May seaport.

Building a commensurate logistics center

At the recent “Regional Logistics Forum VI” in Hue City, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan assessed that in the North Central and Central Coast, logistics infrastructure still lacks synchronization; the connection between seaports - railways - roads - airlines, although being promoted for investment, has not yet been brought into full play, causing transportation costs to be higher than the regional average. Modern logistics centers with multimodal connectivity are still very few.

To make Quang Tri a new growth pole of the Central region in the period of 2025 - 2030, the province has identified four development pillars: energy, logistics, tourism, and agriculture. Quang Tri strives to become a fairly developed province by 2045, a unique energy, logistics, and tourism center of the country.

Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien said that it is necessary to soon complete local state management mechanisms such as preferential policies and support for logistics service enterprises applying high technology in their operations; support trade promotion, call for investment in high-tech logistics centers, smart, green, modern logistics centers that play a role in connecting and promoting goods in the region.

According to the leaders of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, it is necessary to establish a center to standardize logistics services including services such as tracking and monitoring of shipments; and effective customs clearance. This logistics center will be fully connected to the transport infrastructure, especially roads and railways; have good access to major seaports, airports, and major railway stations; focus on customers who want to hire logistics services; and attract the volume of imported and exported container goods.

Localities on the EWEC route, logistics associations and businesses cooperate with the province to effectively exploit the EWEC route. Cooperate with provinces of Laos and the Northeast region of Thailand on the EWEC route and neighboring areas, exploit the advantages of EWEC associated with the development of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone, aiming to build a free trade zone (FTZ) in the My Thuy port area.

The action program to implement the Resolution of the 17th Hue City Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030, emphasizes the development of logistics services associated with the Phu Bai International Airport system and Chan May deep-water seaport to become the green logistics center of the region. Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh said that in the period of 2025 - 2030, the city aims to become one of the maritime economic centers of the country. To achieve the goal, the city focuses on investing in expanding Chan May port and attracting investment in Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone.

Director of the Vietnam Logistics Research and Development Institute Ho Thi Thu Hoa assessed that with its strategic location and superior infrastructure, Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone opens up opportunities for Hue to break through, form a national logistics center and develop a free trade zone. Develop a logistics center in Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone with warehousing services, multimodal transport, digital logistics, value-added services; supplement and complete logistics in the planning; improve the investment environment and attract investment in logistics; expand the scale of training and development of logistics human resources.
