During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Quang Tri - the heroic "land of fire" - witnessed countless pain, losses, and sacrifices, but it was also here that shone an immortal symbol of revolutionary heroism.

The heroic 81-day and night battle to protect Quang Tri Citadel (from June 28 to September 16, 1972 ) contributed to creating a historical turning point, creating the premise for our army and people to launch the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, achieving the Great Victory of Spring 1975, fully realizing the sacred wish of beloved President Ho Chi Minh that the North and South would reunite as one, and the Vietnamese Fatherland would be unified.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2, the Truth National Political Publishing House organized the editing and publication for the third time of the book "Quang Tri Memories - Memories of Insiders" with the hope that readers will have a deeper access to valuable historical memories.

On September 13, in Hanoi, the National Political Publishing House Truth in collaboration with Omega Vietnam Book Joint Stock Company organized a discussion program to introduce the book.

Attending the discussion were veterans who fought in the Quang Tri battlefield in 1972; representatives of the family of writer, poet, journalist, musician, researcher Nguyen Thuy Kha - the collector and compiler of the book; representatives of leaders and editors of units under the Publishing House and many book lovers.

Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Director of the National Political Publishing House Nguyen Thai Binh shared: "Those who have once set foot in Quang Tri Citadel will certainly have many levels of emotions, will see the value of peace, independence and freedom, will never forget the surging and calm emotions in their hearts when passing through the Citadel gate, when standing by Hien Luong bridge, by Thach Han river..."

According to Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh, in recent days, along with the echoes of the movie "Red Rain" , many readers have been eager to read and own the book "Quang Tri Memories - Insider Memories" , which is the motivation for the Publishing House to continue publishing the book for the third time.

To help readers better understand the stories in the book, the Publishing House organized an exchange and dialogue program with historical witnesses, including veteran and Liberation Army soldier Dao Chi Thanh - one of the two main characters, and his comrades who fought directly at the Citadel.

Witnesses shared their journey “From the lecture hall to the battlefield”, memories of crossing the Thach Han River, hastily written diary entries amidst bombs and bullets, and their desire to return to the lecture hall after the country was at peace… Each story was touching, touching the emotions of those attending the program, conveying the message “the war is far away, but memories need to be reminded so that no one has to endure separation again.”

The discussion and introduction of the book “Quang Tri Memories - Memories of Insiders” created an opportunity for delegates, historical witnesses and readers to review a time of war and at the same time arouse patriotism, the desire for peace and the responsibility to preserve the independence and freedom of the Fatherland to today's young generation./.
