On the evening of August 22, U23 Vietnam had a 1-0 victory over U23 Philippines thanks to the only goal of Nguyen Huu Tuan.

Even though he got 3 points and entered the semi-finals as the top team in group C, coach Hoang Anh Tuan still seemed unsatisfied.
In particular, the strategist from Khanh Hoa was very angry when Nguyen Van Truong could not keep calm before the opposing team's aggressive tackles.
“I want to forget this match and look forward to the semi-finals. In this match, U23 Vietnam had 5 18-year-old players and they were not well organized. However, I still want to give them a chance.
In the second half there were clashes between players of both teams, I was also not satisfied about this.
With Nguyen Van Truong, I told the referee that I wanted to replace him immediately. I was not satisfied with him, because this is football, not fighting," said Mr. Tuan.
In this match, the 17-year-old player, Long Vu, played quite impressively with good moves in the midfield area.
When asked about this performance, coach Hoang Anh Tuan said: “I am satisfied with Long Vu. He is only 17 years old so playing like that is good. I told the players to give them a chance and if anyone can take advantage of it, they will have a future.”
In the match against U23 Philippines, although not facing too much pressure, goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan made many mistakes.
Luckily the strikers of the blue team did not take advantage of it, otherwise U23 Vietnam would have won.
However, coach Hoang Anh Tuan still spoke up to defend his student: "Van Chuan is the third goalkeeper of Hanoi , because he rarely plays, he can make mistakes now. I think Chuan will gradually improve in the upcoming matches."
According to schedule, at 4:00 p.m. on August 24, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Malaysia in the semi-finals of the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.
