"Luck? Not at all. Hanoi Police Club deserved this victory. If the team only had one chance to score a goal the entire match and won, that would be called luck. With the number of chances Hanoi Police Club created today against Cebu, we deserved 3 points," coach Alexandre Polking told a press conference after the match.
At Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi Police Club played the most difficult match of the season. Welcoming Cebu FC, coach Alexandre Polking's team encountered a dense and well-organized defense. They could not get a single shot on target for nearly the first hour.
It was not until they replaced most of their foreign players with domestic players that the Hanoi Police Club had clear scoring opportunities to win. The only goal of the home team belonged to Cao Pendant Quang Vinh in the 89th minute when he stole the ball from the goalkeeper and then put it into the net.
Cao Quang Vinh shared: "This match was very difficult for us when the opponent played defensively the whole match. However, we maintained the attacking pressure and got late results."
The 1-0 victory over Cebu helped Hanoi Police Club get the first 3 points after 2 rounds and rise to 4th place in Group A of the ASEAN Club Championship 2025 - 2026.
On Cebu FC's side, head coach Glenn Ramos expressed regret.
"You saw that. Cebu players fought bravely for nearly 90 minutes but only lost due to an unlucky situation. Although it's a pity, I'm still proud of my students," said coach Ramos.
