Coach of Vietnam U19 women: The whole team will focus on the semi-final match

VHO - Speaking before the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Football Championship, head coach of the Vietnam U19 women's football team - Okiyama Masahiko affirmed that the whole team will focus on competing to achieve the best results.

Vietnam U19 women's team ended the group stage with 3 wins, 9 points, scoring 16 goals and conceding no goals.

Coach Okiyama Masahiko believes in his students' abilities

Coach Okiyama Masahiko's team topped the group and will meet the Indonesian U19 women's team in the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship on June 16.

Speaking before the match, coach Okiyama Masahiko said that his players need to improve their finishing ability if looking at the 3 matches of the group stage.

“After 3 group stage matches, the U19 women's team of Vietnam has carried out the plan quite well. The players scored 16 goals but have not yet taken full advantage of them as many scoring opportunities have not been converted into goals. We will improve the problem of finishing the goal in the training session this afternoon.”

Evaluating the Indonesian U19 women's team, the Vietnamese U19 women's coach expressed his impression of the opponent's physique: "The Indonesian U19 women's team has a big and tall body, runs well and has a specific playing style."

Regarding Thao Nguyen's injury, Mr. Okiyama Masahiko said: "Thao Nguyen's injury makes us worried, but she has been practicing on the field. We will evaluate Thao Nguyen's injury to make a specific decision."

Vietnam U19 women's team (white shirt) is rated higher than the opponent.

“The Vietnam U19 women's team has passed the group stage and entered the semi-finals. The goal has not changed.

The whole team will focus on the semi-finals. The U19 women's team of Vietnam is capable so we will try our best to win the championship," coach Okiyama Masahiko said about the team's goal.

Meanwhile, coach Akira Higashiyama of the Indonesian U19 women's team said: "Vietnam is a strong team. Indonesia will play their best and be ready for the semi-finals.

Our team has some talented players. After this tournament, we will send some players to the national team to prepare for the Asian qualifiers.”

The semi-final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship between Vietnam U19 Women and Indonesia U19 Women will take place at 3:30 p.m. on June 16 at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC).

The second semi-final between Thailand U19 Women and Myanmar U19 Women will take place later at 18:00.
