Miss Le Hoang Phuong reveals Thanh Thuy's training process for international competitions

On the evening of November 12, Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy surpassed 75 contestants to bring home the Miss International crown - the first Miss International for Vietnam. At the moment of her coronation, the new Miss shared: "I am the first Miss Vietnam to compete in Miss International, and now I am the first Miss International from Vietnam."

Thanh Thuy is the first Vietnamese beauty to be crowned Miss International.

Le Hoang Phuong burst into tears of joy when she witnessed Thanh Thuy's coronation. The beauty queen said she watched the final via livestream. When Thanh Thuy's name was called, she kept screaming with joy. Before the Da Nang beauty left for Miss International, Le Hoang Phuong was the "teacher" who trained her catwalk and performance skills.

The 4th runner-up of Miss Grand International 2023 shared that about three months before Thanh Thuy competed internationally, her manager asked her to guide her juniors. Because she loved Thanh Thuy, Le Hoang Phuong decided to accept the offer to help even though she was not too fond of training before. The beauty queen was surprised when the first "student" she taught brought home a historic victory.

Sharing about the time when he started training Thanh Thuy, Le Hoang Phuong expressed: "Thanh Thuy is a very innocent and pure girl. When she was training, she said she knew almost nothing and her catwalk was still very instinctive, so she listened carefully, focused and followed what I taught her," said the beauty queen.

At first, Le Hoang Phuong said Thanh Thuy did not know how to keep her balance, and often walked to one side because her legs were quite weak. She and her juniors tried to practice together at least twice a week, each session lasting about two hours to improve Thanh Thuy's skills.

"I divided the lessons into sessions. For evening gowns, we asked for sketches of the dresses and borrowed similar ones so Thuy could get used to the shape. I taught Thuy how to catwalk horizontally on the right and left sides because the Miss International stage is usually horizontal.

We planned out all the possible directions to ensure that Thuy could do any stage. After that, I let Thuy practice catwalking on the T-shaped stage, and how to pose to get into the right shape. With evening gowns, I taught Thuy to walk half a step, slightly diagonally, and slowly to look elegant. When catwalking in a bikini, she had to keep her legs straight, take long strides, and her side profile had to be straight to walk like surfing," Le Hoang Phuong shared.

Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 said that before training Thanh Thuy, she carefully researched the demeanor of beauty queens at Miss International.

"I always told Thuy that the contest needed an elegant, classy girl, but her steps had to be powerful, not just graceful. I didn't limit Thuy to a specific catwalk because from experience, I know that on stage there are many factors such as space, sound, light, camera angle... So I told Thuy to practice really well so that she could improvise, perform and pose on any music, any stage. When Thuy stepped onto the stage, I immediately got goosebumps because she did everything I told her to do," Le Hoang Phuong added.

During the training process of Thanh Thuy, Le Hoang Phuong said she was a strict "teacher", very straightforward and ready to yell "too ugly" if the "student" did not do it correctly. "I forced Thuy to do each movement 10 times until she knew it by heart before she could go home. Sometimes I told her to walk beautifully before she could drink water, or there was food there but she had to finish practicing before she could eat, that way she had immediate motivation" , the beauty from Khanh Hoa said. Despite her busy schedule and sometimes exhausted, Le Hoang Phuong felt that Thanh Thuy never complained about being tired but always tried her best.

Before the final round, Le Hoang Phuong texted Thanh Thuy to wish her confidence and shine. Knowing that her junior was under a lot of pressure before the competition night because she had also experienced similar feelings, she did not put much pressure on Thanh Thuy.

"I told Thuy not to remember any more songs, just do what she feels is good, enjoy every moment on stage. Thuy said she felt very emotional. The moment she answered the questions, I knew for sure Thuy would be crowned," Le Hoang Phuong revealed.

“For Thanh Thuy, all I do is help her see her own potential and exploit it. Thuy already has the beauty and demeanor that is very suitable for Miss International.

In addition to her professional skills on stage, I also paid special attention to helping Thuy feel the energy from within so that she could shine in the most natural way. And in the end, Thanh Thuy did everything beyond expectations, bringing home the prestigious crown for Vietnam," Le Hoang Phuong shared.

Le Hoang Phuong was born in 1995, from Khanh Hoa. She graduated from the Architecture Department at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. She was crowned Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 and competed in Miss Grand International in the same year. At the contest, she won the 4th runner-up position. She is currently the CEO of an architectural company.

In the near future, she will appear in Miss Student Vietnam 2024, Miss International Queen Vietnam 2024 as a coach. She will also participate in Dancing with the Stars 2024.
