Not only stopping at tricks of selling travel combos, cheap airline tickets, or tickets to see music and sports , nowadays, scammers also impersonate celebrities, government agencies, banks, and e-commerce platforms to "trick" users into transferring money and appropriating assets. Many accounts are also given blue ticks, or bought and sold on the black market to increase reliability, making it easy for users to fall into traps.

According to the Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, the situation of impersonating personal and business accounts to commit fraud on the internet is increasing with increasingly sophisticated, organized and transnational methods. The Ministry of Public Security has dismantled many high-tech crime rings operating internationally.

Recently, the department has deployed two groups of solutions to control bad and toxic information on the internet.

One is a technical solution, including blocking and removing violating accounts. “We work closely with social networking platforms such as Facebook and Google to propose setting up algorithms to control and handle fake content. In the first 6 months of 2025, we removed about 30,000 violating accounts. However, this number is still nothing compared to reality,” said Mr. Le Quang Tu Do.

According to Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, because the platforms requested to keep the details of the cooperation confidential, the announcement will be made according to their own plans. However, the department has provided identification templates for the platforms to apply artificial intelligence algorithms to identify and automatically handle infringing content.

Second is to propagate and raise people's awareness. The Ministry of Public Security has sent weekly text messages to people to warn them about new online scams. The Department also maintains a separate website to update information, guide people to identify fake news, false news, and forward it to the authorities for handling.

“In the context of constantly developing technology, we have been trying our best. However, the important thing is the need for the synchronous participation of press agencies in propaganda work, helping people build resistance against fraudulent acts in cyberspace,” Mr. Le Quang Tu Do emphasized.
