On October 3, the Provincial Association of the Elderly coordinated with the International Organization for Support of the Elderly in Vietnam to organize a conference to orient the implementation of the Project to Support the Disadvantaged Elderly through the replication of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in Vietnam, Phase 2 (Referred to as Project VIE085).
Attending the conference were representatives of Project VIE085 in Vietnam; representatives of some provincial departments and branches; and the Association of the Elderly at the grassroots level.
VIE085 is a project in which the Assistance for the Aging International (HAI) in Vietnam cooperates and calls on the Assistance for the Aging Korea (HAK) to mobilize the Korea International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam (KOICA) to continue funding for localities. The project's goal is to contribute to improving the quality of life of the elderly, especially increasing income and improving health. At the same time, it calls for and mobilizes support resources to continue establishing and expanding the activities of intergenerational self-help clubs.
At the conference, delegates heard an introduction to the VIE085 Project; an overview of the Intergenerational Self-Help model, the Club's organizational chart, establishment steps, criteria for selecting members of the Executive Board; the role and responsibilities of the Elderly Association at all levels in supporting the establishment, operation and management of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs; coordination with units to support the Clubs after they are established...
Ninh Binh is one of the first 6 provinces and cities in the country to receive and implement Project VIE085 "Supporting the disadvantaged elderly through replicating the model of intergenerational self-help clubs". The project will be implemented for 3 years (2023-2025). The goal is to establish 9 intergenerational self-help clubs each year.
The orientation conference is the opening activity for the series of activities of Project VIE085 in Ninh Binh. After this conference, the Provincial Association of the Elderly will conduct a 5-day training program to provide knowledge, information, and methods on the process of establishing, operating, and managing intergenerational self-help clubs for the Executive Board and the Association of the Elderly at the grassroots level.
