(GLO)- To help people in Ha Tay and Dak To Ve communes travel conveniently during the rainy season, Chu Pah district ( Gia Lai province) has invested in repairing and renovating suspension bridges in the area.

The suspension bridge in Hde village (Dak To Ve commune) across Dak Po Tong stream was built by Song Da-Tay Nguyen Hydropower Joint Stock Company and handed over to Dak To Ve commune People's Committee for management since 2015. The bridge is 60 m long, 1.3 m wide, with a wooden deck, steel towers, etc. Thanks to this bridge, Hde villagers can easily reach the production area, especially during the rainy season.

To ensure safety during this year's flood season, recently, the professional agencies of Chu Pah district coordinated with the two communes of Dak To Ve and Ha Tay to inspect the current status of the suspension bridge for people in Hde village. The inspection showed that some damaged items pose potential risks such as: some wooden longitudinal beams of the bridge are rotten and damaged; some wooden bridge decks are rotten; some broken bridge railings have been temporarily repaired by the People's Committee of Dak To Ve commune; the two sides of the bridge's cone made of rubble have collapsed; the dirt roads at both ends of the bridge are slippery during the rainy season; the tower pillars and main cables are rusted...

Mr. Denh (Hde village) said: “Every day, people in Hde village and other villages in the commune often travel on this suspension bridge to go to the production area. Currently, some sections of the bridge surface have rotted, so people are worried about traveling.”

According to Mr. Cao Phi Van - Chairman of Dak To Ve Commune People's Committee: In that situation, the Commune People's Committee has repeatedly mobilized cadres and people of Hde village to repair and replace bridge decks and fences on both sides of the bridge to ensure safe travel for people and motorbikes. During heavy rains and strong winds, the commune has assigned forces to stand guard on both sides of the bridge to prevent people from crossing to ensure their lives and property.

“Before the rainy season of 2023, from the capital source of the National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021-2030, the Commune People's Committee has allocated 900 million VND and requested the District People's Committee to assign specialized agencies to survey, upgrade, renovate and repair the Hde village suspension bridge. Construction is expected to begin in the third quarter of this year,” Mr. Van informed.

Ha Tay commune has 5 suspension bridges for people, of which 2 bridges were invested in upgrading and renovating by the State. Mr. We (Kon Mah village) shared: In 2022, Dak Po Tong suspension bridge was invested in by the State to be solidly built, making it very convenient for people in the village and other villages to travel. Everyone is very excited when this suspension bridge has connected with the increasingly complete rural traffic system of the commune, helping people focus on economic development and building a prosperous life.

Mr. Truong Van Toan - Vice Chairman of Ha Tay Commune People's Committee - said: For the 3 suspension bridges built by the people themselves, the Commune People's Committee regularly inspects, reminds and guides people to fix the damage. This year, the Commune People's Committee has also developed a plan to repair and renovate both ends of the bridge to avoid slipping to ensure people's safe travel during the rainy season.

The unit has inspected the current status of suspension bridges in the two communes of Ha Tay and Dak To Ve and requested the two localities to regularly inspect and repair minor damages.

At the same time, the communes mobilized people to clear vines to ensure safety. If the suspension bridge is not safe, they will build barriers or dismantle it to prevent people from passing. Currently, the relevant units are preparing to repair and upgrade the suspension bridge in Hde village to facilitate people's travel.
