Hang Trong is one of the masterpieces of nature bestowed on the world heritage site of Ha Long Bay.
Trong Cave, together with Trinh Nu Cave, is located on Bo Hon Island (Ha Long Bay), about 12 km from the center of Ha Long City ( Quang Ninh ).
These are two caves with quite large areas, about 300m2; the ground is relatively flat and dry. In addition, clusters of stalactites hanging down from the cave ceiling create a magical natural picture.

On sunny or rainy days, if you stand in Trong cave and look out, you will witness a beautiful natural picture. Some tourists even say that standing in this cave and looking at the world natural heritage Ha Long Bay is the lucky moment of their life.

According to the Ha Long Bay Management Board, the name Trong Cave comes from a tearful love legend.
Legend has it that, long ago, in a fishing village, there was a very beautiful girl. Because her family was poor, her family had to work for a local landlord. The landlord saw that the girl was lovely and forced her to marry him as a concubine, but she refused because she already had a lover. The boy was fishing at the time to prepare for their wedding. Because he could not convince her, the landlord exiled her to a deserted island. After a stormy night and hunger, the girl was exhausted and turned to stone. The place where she turned to stone was later called Virgin Cave.

Right in the middle of the cave is a stone statue of a girl, lying with her long hair loose, eyes looking out to sea, waiting wearily for her lover to return.
As for the young man, that night, upon hearing that she was in trouble, he rowed his boat to look for her. At night, a storm broke his boat and drifted to a deserted island. In a flash of lightning, he looked into the distance and saw his lover calling him, but his words were blown away by the wind. The young man used a rock to hit the cliff to let her know that he had arrived. He knocked until his hands were bleeding profusely, until he was exhausted and turned to stone. The place where the young man turned to stone is now Trong cave (also known as Con Trai cave), about 700 - 800 m on the opposite side of Trinh Nu cave.
At the cave entrance, there is still a statue of a petrified boy facing the Virgin Cave. The traces of that night's storm still remain, such as the broken rocks and soil in the cave, the howling wind through the cliffs and the white foam of the waves...

During the time of occupying the Quang Ninh mining area in the past, when mapping, although the French named many islands in their own way, with Trinh Nu cave, they followed the legend of Ha Long fishermen, naming the cave La Vierge (Virgin Cave).
That somewhat supernatural love story has made many tourists curious to explore Virgin Cave once.

To get to Trong Cave to see the masterpiece of Ha Long Bay, visitors can now rent a speedboat service, a private yacht, or buy tickets to tour route number 2 to experience this rare scene.
