The project to upgrade and expand the An Hoa fishing boat storm shelter area combined with Tam Quang fishing port (Nui Thanh commune) when completed can accommodate thousands of fishing boats of all types to anchor and create a complete chain of fishing logistics services.

Therefore, the project is considered a key point on the roadmap to complete a modern fishing logistics facility in the south of Da Nang city.

The project was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (formerly) with a total investment of 426.5 billion VND. Of which, the central budget managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is 286.5 billion VND and the local budget is 140 billion VND; implemented in the period of 2022 - 2026.

Mr. Vo Van Diem, Director of Quang Nam Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that when completed and put into use, the An Hoa fishing boat storm shelter will have a total area of 140 hectares, ensuring safe anchorage for 1,200 fishing boats with capacity from 300CV to more than 1,000CV of fishermen in the city and neighboring provinces.

Tam Quang fishing port has been upgraded to a shore-based port, meeting the docking needs of fishing vessels of over 1,000 horsepower to consume seafood and be provided with materials, fuel, food, fresh water, and ice to go back to sea.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien, during his survey, highly appreciated the location and importance of the project to upgrade and expand the storm shelter anchorage area for An Hoa fishing boats combined with Tam Quang fishing port.

The Deputy Minister requested the locality to set a goal of building a safe and modern fishing boat anchorage area connecting various types of logistics services, connecting with Tam Quang fishing port to become a type 1 fishing port, capable of linking and activating other economic sectors such as transportation, trade, tourism, services, etc. to make the marine economy a spearhead economic sector.

According to the request of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the project to upgrade and expand the An Hoa fishing boat shelter area combined with Tam Quang fishing port must be completed in 2025; at the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment does not allocate capital for the medium-term plan for the period 2026 - 2030 for the project. Meanwhile, the Quang Nam Construction Investment Project Management Board has worked with the People's Committee of Nui Thanh commune 3 times on site clearance, but so far it is still stuck, there are still 50 fish cages that have not been relocated from the project area.

Urgent implementation

Taking advantage of favorable weather, in recent days, construction units have urgently implemented the project to upgrade and expand the storm shelter anchorage area for An Hoa fishing boats combined with Tam Quang fishing port.

In package 15 (construction of embankment lines to reinforce the banks; dredging channels and water areas for ship mooring; investment in signaling systems...), the Long Hai - Thanh An 9 joint venture has completed a total volume of 170.186/277.15 billion VND (reaching 61.4%). With the dredging category, the construction unit is driving bamboo piles, dredging, and filling the western and eastern dykes...

With package No. 16 for construction of connecting roads and management house for fishing boat mooring area, Tien Bao Company Limited and Trinh Hung Consulting & Construction Company Limited have implemented a total volume of 3.3/22,434 billion VND (15%).

Last week, during a project inspection trip, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung said that the project's capital disbursement in 2025 was too slow, while the rainy and stormy season was coming, making it very difficult to carry out construction to disburse the funds.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the People's Committee of Nui Thanh Commune to focus on propagating and mobilizing households still raising fish in cages in the dredging area of An Hoa fishing boat anchorage to urgently relocate cages and return them to their original state so that the relevant agencies can implement the project; the relocation must be done before August 30 at the latest.

Danang City Land Fund Development Center - Branch 11 and related units speed up the progress of handing over the site for dredging items and connecting roads to ensure construction progress and disbursement.
